Enter JVC's Everio line with the confidence that comes from owning a JVC.

by   dmezzer ,  Jan 5, 2007
Pros: Full of features, versatile storage, 32x optical zoom.
Cons: Entry-level quality only, stills look like cell-phone camera could have taken them.
The Bottom Line: Good entry-level camcorder in terms of quality with some advanced features which should satisfy the collecting of family memories for the vast majority of consumers.
Review: This is JVCs entry level HDD (hard disk digital) camcorder. It can get you into the latest in digital camcorder media at about medium cost with somewhat of a trade-off in quality. This camera requires no tapes or discs, but does come with a flash ...

My cold weather camcorder

by   majcmortenson ,  Jul 5, 2008
Pros: small, good quality recording, good price, doesn't freeze up in cold environments
Cons: not terribly intuitive, provided software is useless
The Bottom Line: I'm glad I chose this JVC HDD camcorder, the quality is good, and the price was great. It meets all my requirements.
Review: First, let me preface this review by telling you why I went looking to buy a new camcorder in the first place. My son is a figure skater...a very good figure skater. I am at the arena a lot (and I really mean A LOT!!). Dad can't be there most of ...

JVC Everio MG-21U Model Hard Disk Camcorder, no tapes needed

by   bluestarmom ,  Nov 7, 2006
Pros: 20g Hard Disk camcorder 32x optical, no tapes needed
Cons: Standard battery provides 1 hour and 10 minutes recording time
The Bottom Line: It is small and compact with excellent videos produced even by an amateur like myself. Records directly to the 20g hard disk built in, no tapes to run out.
Review: I have two older camcorders. The first one was an RCA that is very large, and uses tapes. The second one I bought was was a smaller more compact JVC using the mini DV tapes. I was not in the market for a new camcorder. This one was a surprise gift ...

Decent HDD camcorder, SD slot, a plus. Could have longer battery life (1.5 hrs.)

by   heatherg11 ,  Jan 23, 2007
Pros: HDD, SD slot, still camera, semi large Hard Drive space.
Cons: battery life, formatting of HD and SD card.
Review: This is the first HDD camcoder that I have owned. I got it on sale the day after thanksgiving for really cheap ($100 under regular price) Initially I was very impressed, no more tapes. But I have since learned that you have to format the Hard Drive and ...

JVC Everio GZ26 ek

by   wiggey ,  Jul 9, 2006
Pros: Tough, easy to use and no media to bother about.
Cons: Down loading to pc is time consuming and requires a reasonable pc knowledge.
The Bottom Line: Its just like the advert says if you like your MP3 player you will love this camcorder, if not choose a different type!
Review: My main reason for buying this HDD camcorder was due to the failure of my previous media camcorders due to dirt ingress ruining the tape head/drives. As this device uses a hard disk drive I figured this should not be a problem and so far so good. The ...

Ahead of its time for good and for ill

by   andrewbolton ,  Dec 8, 2006
Pros: Compact, large capacity, quality construction, great styling.
Cons: Poor image quality (not just me, other reviewers agree). Downloading far too difficult.
The Bottom Line: Due to poor image quality, customer service, and the difficulty of downloading to DVD, I really suggest waiting for the technology or getting a SR-100
Review: The pros: this camcorder is compact, light, and looks great. Quality of construction appears good too. It's size and relatively large hard disk is great for weekend outing videos, etc. However, do not mistake this camcorder for a high resolution ...

Dubious Video Quality

by   tawb ,  Jan 12, 2008
Pros: Small
Cons: HDD drive. HDD compression.
The Bottom Line: Wait till the new HDD prices come down. For half the price, or more, you can get better quality video from DV tape.
Review: Because of it's cheap price (then) for new technology, I impulsively bought it. Which I should have known better. When buying a camcorder make sure you have the biggest lens. The biggest chip or CCD. And watch out for compression of how that info ...

JVC's everio is horrible

by   pat21 ,  Jan 8, 2007
Pros: Hard drive, no tapes needed, size of camera
Cons: Low light video, battery life, Software included
Review: For the money I paid, I should have got an excellent camera. Low light videos look horrible. Everyone was dark during playback. The software that comes with the camera is horrible, too. It is difficult to use and if you own a Mac, forget it. You ...

Less than Expected!

by   val1064 ,  Jan 29, 2007
Pros: Light weight! Great still Shots!
Cons: Poor quality video!
Review: I was looking for a good quality Camcorder. I am still looking. This camcorder does not take decent video. It is very grainy and fuzzy. It does take great still shots though but I already have a camera for that. I am taking this back and going with a ...

No better then a good cell phone camera

by   wizhuff ,  Apr 22, 2007
Pros: Small and compact. No tapes or media to mess with.
Cons: bad in low light and if you movie the camera around the picture blurs
Review: I purchased this camera because we had our first baby on the way and wanted to be able to get some video of her. I was excited by the idea of a Hard Drive camera and not having to mess with any tapes. The problem is the video produced by this ...
