Great prints

by   f8lee ,  Dec 28, 2005
Pros: Excellent print quality, speedy printing
Cons: Max 8x12 size
The Bottom Line: Great photographic output without the hassles of inkjets - if you're not printing piles of output every week and don't need larger than 8x12 this is a winner.
Review: I had been using a Kodak 8650PS dye sub printer for a couple of years by the time the 1400 came out (and was available), so I got the 1400 since it was Mac compatible out of the box (the 8650 was not and required a $600 network card to play with the ...

Kodak Professional 1400 Printer Review

by   drstu ,  Dec 14, 2005
Pros: Beautiful consistent color and B&W photo output. No inkjet clogging.
Cons: Limited to Kodak's paper varieties so some artistic limitations and high costs/page compared with inkjets.
The Bottom Line: Excellent product. Hardware and software both work as expected and provide high quality color and B&W output.
Review: I enjoy printing color photos but tend to do so in large quantities on rare occasions. What this means is that my inkjet printers have always managed to clog between the last time they were used and the time I want to print. Once that happens a few ...

Kodak 1400 Printer

by   johndodds ,  Jul 27, 2005
Pros: the printer is quick to set and output can be fantastic
Cons: the matte finish ribbon dulls prints considerably
Review: Mostly good news! very easy to set up out of the box. No software problems. build quality very good.I was initially disapointed with the output of this printer, after much testing and paper wasting I found this to be the "xtralife" coating as used in the ...

Excellent Printer

by   suzk ,  Jun 9, 2006
Pros: Easy, low-cost, quiet, quick to load, requires little space, great color. It's Kodak.
Cons: Must be in dust-free environment for best results. Plastic holder for ribbon flimsy.
Review: I purchased this printer in December of 2005. Since then I have printed approximately 8 50 sheet boxes of the 8 1/2 x 14 Glossy. Except for a little dust problem that was my fault, all the prints have been outstanding. Although I am using this mainly ...

Kodak 1400

by   coyote12 ,  Jun 16, 2005
Pros: Low cost, fast speed.
Cons: Would like 8.5x11 media, 12/14 inch media is just weird. A little deep in size.
Review: Basically a good printer. Speed is 90 seconds, accurately stated by manufacturer. Found the prints a bit dark for my taste, but the driver allowed correction. The calibration routine, screwed up the text enormously. Creating a bizarre read shadow. ...

Stay away from this printer

by   davewilliams8 ,  Jun 4, 2006
Pros: cheap. you get less then you pay for with this.
Cons: bad quality. colors not line up. White specs in the flesh tones. NO SUPPORT.
Review: I am a photographer looking to replace a series of kodak 8500 printers. purchased two 1400 printers with regret. bad print quality - white specs in the flesh tones. Kodak DID NOT SUPPORT IT AT ALL."Sorry we do not replace printers" was there response. ...

A Waste of Time, Money and Space

by   davbog ,  Dec 24, 2005
Pros: Well, they were delivered in a short time. . .
Cons: Nothing to recommend here; horrible consistency, no support.
Review: We purchased two of the 1400's for use in a Mac design lab here at the college where I direct the Graphic Design program. In short, they have been wastes of time, money and space. Nice prints for the first 6 or 8 pages from one printer - nothing ...
