Pros: Indestructible, Accurate, Easy-to-Use and Easy-to-read -- A great investment
Cons: Battery Life, Acquisition Time at bit slow
The Bottom Line: Buy it. A great value, a solid product, easy to use and more accurate than other value GPS units. It rocks.
Review: I love geocaching, so I got my wife (ha ha) a GPS. I did some research and found the Magellan Meridian GPS. I got it for about OneHundredandTwenty bucks on Ebay. Easy to Use Some GPS devices have a single button and a mouse-like thing. ...

Pros: Low cost, color is great, pre-loaded buoys, cans, nuns and lighthouses.
Cons: Short battery life.
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend considering this unit if you're looking for a handheld GPS.
Review: I use this unit in the US North Atlantic. I have a 17 foot Newport daysailer that I take from the mainland New Hampshire coast to the Isle of Shoals, around Portsmouth Harbor, into Southern Maine and around Hampton and Rye NH. Before I had the Magellan, ...

Pros: performance, reliability, turn-by-turn directions, audible prompts, etc. (see review)
Cons: battery life, screen visibility in bright sun, not Mac compatible, no USB cord
The Bottom Line: I recommend this item whole heartedly. The performance is amazing from a small handheld. But do buy large SD card, SD writer, ans mapsend Directroute software.
Review: This product blows me away. One small unit will serve your outdoor adventure needs as well as in-car-navigations needs. Pros: A. This device will... ...create turn by turn routes* ...give audible cues at turns and manuevers* ...allow the input ...

Pros: Accurate, Color screen, detailed maps, expandable memory, Versatile
Cons: Confusing manual, Battery drain.
The Bottom Line: This is the best handheld GPS out there.
Review: I wanted a GPS for my car, hiking, and boating. Meridian Color is what I bought and Im glad I did. Batteries drain quickly when using the backlight. I recommend using Ni-MH batteries with an 1800 ma or higher rating. They seem to last longer than ...

Pros: Accuracy, sat lock, user interface, durability, expandability
Cons: No easy way to carry it w/o buying a proprietary strap.
The Bottom Line: The best GPS unit you can buy for less than $200
Review: The more reviews I read of GPS units, the more happy I am with the Meridian series. I currently own two, one green and one gold. I would recommend spending the extra $50 to upgrade. The newer software that comes with the Meridian Gold (5.12) seems a ...

Pros: EXPANDABLE memory (MMC cards OK); upgradable; solid unit comfortable in the hands; battery life; features!
Cons: Might be too big/heavy for some people; No built-in place for wrist strap/lanyard;
The Bottom Line: If you're a beginner, buy this unit, not a Garmin! Has more features that you'd likely use in the future, especially the SD/MMC memory expandibility!
Review: I darn near bought a Garmin Legend, and decided to dig a little deeper - I wanted to be SURE it was the unit that suited me best. I stumbled across the Magellan Meridian GPS (base unit) for about the same price (actually the Meridian was a little ...

Pros: Fast and accurate satellite lock even under heavy tree cover
Cons: Could use a USB hookup for map loading function

Pros: light, portable, detailed maps, expandable memory
Cons: confusing manual, maps not accurate, user interface could be better.
The Bottom Line: A great portable GPS unit. Best in class. Be aware of its limits to avoid being dissapointed. Not to be confused with a car nav system.
Review: I never considered a GPS until I demoed one at a store and thought it could be the answer to my terrible sense of direction. I spend half my time lost on my way to an important client fumbling for maps and stopping to ask directions from startled pedestri ...

Pros: Great for geocaching, good price
Cons: basemap is pretty much worthless

Pros: small, light, waterproof, COLOR
Cons: marginal battery life, slow screen refresh, not THAT small
The Bottom Line: The Meridian Color is a great GPS unit for someone with mapping needs and not a lot of $$$ to do it with. Very versatile and expandable.
Review: First off, The Magellan Meridian Color is a great handheld GPS. It is small, waterproof (so they say) and shows everything in vibrant color. The screen is a good size, but not as large as more modern, in-car navigation systems. This is due to its ...
