A SUV TO FALL IN LOVE WITH

by   damanger ,  Oct 16, 2002
Pros: SUV luxuries at a marginal cost, easy to handle, option packages.
Cons: NONE
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a real SUV, with all the trimming, except the price, look no further, this is the vechile for you.
Review: My wife and I went looking for a new SUV this fall, test driving many different models, like the Honda CRV, the Toyota RAV4, and the Saturn Vue. It wasn't until we got to test drive the 2003 Mazda Tribute, that we were sure on what vehicle we wanted to...

A Great Vehicle for the Money!

by   friendlywoman ,  Jun 30, 2006
Pros: Looks good, affordable price, fun to drive.
Cons: Gas mileage.
Review: I purchased my Tribute in October of 2002. I have had virtually no problems with it since then. It has some nice options and rides so much smoother and quieter than the Ford Escapes (its cousin) that two friends of mine own. The gas mileage is not ...

Finally, a SUV that handles great!

by   concept1 ,  Oct 5, 2003
Pros: Great Handling Midsize SUV with lots of bonuses
Cons: Cheap interior trimwork, A/C works with Dash Vents only. Very good reliablility.
The Bottom Line: Great midsized SUV with great handling and a quiet ride.
Review: I purchased by 03' Mazda Tribute LX-V6 7 months ago. It replaced a 1993 Ford Explorer Sport (2 Door). I included this information so that you have a frame of reference as to some of my remarks. First of all to those who think that the Tribute is ...

I'll Never Go Back To A Car

by   donoke ,  Jun 5, 2003
Pros: Powerful, Priced right, looks great, fantastic in the winter.
Cons: Gas Milage around town
The Bottom Line: Test Drive It - Then Decide. I Did, and I Bought It
Review: I'm 32 and have owned cars (Mostly sports cars) all of my 15 driving years. I live in a harsh climate where we have snow from Nov-April. So, I finally decided that I needed something more practical to get around in. My biggest concern was hey, if I get ...

1st Mazda Tribute

by   alex03v6 ,  Jan 17, 2006
Pros: Great Looks, Good Handling, Great Pick-Up
Cons: Gas mileage, never have I had a car that is so gas hungry!!
Review: I just purchased a used 03, V6 Tribute & so far so good! I use the SUV for work, the pick up is great when you step on it I'm not worried about passing someone. The only complaint I have is that it loves gas, not sure if anyone else noticed but I can ...

Sporty Mid-sized SUV

by   pcpc2 ,  Jul 19, 2006
Pros: Sporty driving experience, good cargo room and towing ability, heated seats and mirrors.
Cons: Wind and road noise can be prominent. Trouble with rear seats.
The Bottom Line: Good choice mid-sized SUV for people who need the cargo room and towing ability. Otherwise look for new crossovers like CX-7 for even more sporty drive.
Review: The 2003 Mazda Tribute ES AWD with 3.0L V6 was my answer to an SUV that handles well and accelerates fast with a price between 25k and 30k. At this price, it has 200 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque, which was one of the highest among similar priced SUVs. On ...

almost happy

by   insurman2 ,  Mar 31, 2004
Pros: Great looks, lots of torque, head/leg room, cargo storage
Cons: Mileage, quality control
The Bottom Line: Please, Mazda, dont let Ford build your excellent SUV's anymore !!!
Review: I have put 20000 miles on my Tribute FWD. This mid-sized SUV has plenty of power with its 200hp Ford engine, derived from the Taurus. The transmission is derived from the Mazda 626 and was oversized accordingly. The Tribute meant for the American ...

Tribute Trauma

by   sgard ,  Feb 7, 2003
Pros: Handling, styling, size
Cons: Quality control, gas mileage
The Bottom Line: If you can get a Tribute that has been put together properly, then you will love it.
Review: After spending many hours reading reviews and opinions on the Web, I bought a new 2003 Tribute and it has been plagued with problems. There is so much that I like about this SUV, but there appears to be a serious quality control problem.

A 2003 Tribute for Vacation

by   blafever ,  Jul 30, 2003
Pros: The size is great - a nimble car. Gas mileage is fine
Cons: Creature comforts - door locks and A/C controls.
The Bottom Line: After having Jeeps and GM Yukon, I would go back to one of them, probably a Jeep next time.
Review: Two weeks ago we took delivery of a 2003 Tribute with just the options we wanted, then took a 3000 m ...

On Balance, I would not buy a tribute again

by   johndriedger ,  Sep 20, 2004
Pros: Peppy, but Mazda does not stand behind product
Cons: Ten year part fails 4 months past warranty and I'm stuck paying $2,300
The Bottom Line: Avoid it. Who wants a $2,300 part to fail 4 months after warranty. A part a mechanic says should be good for ten years!
Review: First, the minor things. The windshield cracked when I warmed up the car one morning in chilly Edmonton. The crack started from under the molding so it had a flaw in it from the factory. Of course I got a rock on the windshield which precluded me from ...
