2001 Mitsubishi Montero Draws Looks From Valley Residents!

by   charles ,  Oct 11, 2000
Pros: Redesigned to take the first spot among SUVs in its category; Roomier and heavier; Nifty features
Cons: Weighs a bit too much...about 6000 pounds; pedals are kind of close; Steering whell placement
Review: The first looks show the curves and bulges. You may be asking yourself whether it is bigger. Yes, it is! It is clear that the Japanese SUVs are making their mark on our roads. For the most part, a lot of them have had a good track record. The 2001...

Review: I just bought the new Mitsubishi Montero limited, wow! Heated leather seats huge sunroof, all the luxury of an upscale car. The thing that is amazing is that this SUV has all that plus it is an excellent 4-wheel drive. Which I need just to get to my...

Montero Limited-the Tennis Shoe!

by   fmn1116 ,  Jul 10, 2003
Pros: Comfort, ride, amenities, A/C, smooth engine running, fold down 3rd seat, body style, huge sunroof.
Cons: Premium Gas, Price
The Bottom Line: In spite of it's minor flaws, this is a keeper. I leased it, yet I am going to pay off the residual and keep this car for 10 years!
Review: I was discussing my new car with another owner who mentioned that it looked like a big tennis shoe a ...

2001 Montero LTD

by   s_vickers ,  Jan 5, 2003
Pros: Folding rear seat, room for 7, solid feel and ride, EXCELLENT brakes!
Cons: Not a speed demon, but is it supposed to be? Gas Mileage 14-17 average.
The Bottom Line: The Montero is a great all around family car - it has the luxuries to spoil and the ability to take you anywhere.
Review: We REALLY enjoy this vehicle! We had a 1996 Chrysler Town and Country which ended up being a maintenance nightmare. So when the chance came up to get something different, we looked at a bunch of different vehicles. I've owned 2 other Mitsu's (Eclipse...

by   660RGuy ,  Jul 11, 2002
Pros: Luxury Ride-Sporty Handling-Great Price
Cons: 3rd Row Seating
The Bottom Line: If you want style, fit, finish and performance at a reasonable price the Montero Limited is the SUV for you.
Review: My wife was in the market for a new car late in 2000 so as the "car expert" of the family I was sent out to find our next vehicle purchase, we had pretty much decided that a SUV would best suit our needs in the coming years, so my favorite part of...

if you actually do go off road at all

by   godlessamerica ,  Jan 18, 2002
Pros: roomy, quiet, (relatively) inexpensive
Cons: original equipment tires
The Bottom Line: the real thing, not a pretender
Review: If you actually do go off road frequently, then you can't drive an explorer, expedition, lexus 300, acura mdx, tahoe, or any other pretender. They have computerized "brains" that help apportion torque on slippery/snowy streets, but lack the locking...

Pros: Versatile Seven Passenger SUV w/Great Looks

Great Family SUV

by   digger3 ,  Jul 16, 2000
Pros: Good styling, folding third seat, good handling and storage compartments
Cons: No cloth interior option on the upgraded model and limited color options.
Review: Our family has been in the market for a family oriented reasonably priced SUV with a low range 4-wheel drive option that will spend most of its off road activities in a New England soft sands dune setting. One major requirement was the SUV we purchased...

The Full Monty

by   bdecker ,  Aug 8, 2000
Pros: Styling, quite interior, ride, new chassis
Cons: No vanity lights on the visors
Review: I bought my 2001 Montero in April when they where first available.
Actually I had a 4 month old 2000 Montero Sport Limited that was just fine. I just fell in love with the looks of the big Montero. So much to the pleasure of my 23 year old son, I...
