Pros: A complete package, Mos and Talib's fusion of intelligent street knowledge, politics and Motown chivalry.
Cons: Somewhat short
The Bottom Line: Classic with a capital "C"
Review: Ladies and gentlemen, the annual Hip-Hop Appreciation week is upon us. This is a time to sit back and reflect upon the state of hip-hop culture, to bask in the glow of talent generated from the true lyricists and to curse the massive negativity generat ...

Pros: Well, the fact that Hi-Tek produces most of the beats. The duo at their prime.
Cons: I guess "Yo Yeah" is kinda pointless...but that's nitpicking
The Bottom Line: Too many sequels for amazing albums like this - why do they keep pushing back the damn release dates...
Review: Starting this earlier than I thought I would...is the first part of a 6-part Talib Kweli series, even though I did need to concentrate on Mos' contributions here. Hopefully this series'll be finished this year... Most people here know that the ...

Pros: Incredible and unique lyrics, smooth beats
Cons: That there are not more songs on the cd.
The Bottom Line: The incredible talents of Talib Kweli and Mos Def combine in this cd to form an unparalleled duo.
Review: Talib Kweli and Mos Def, two of the biggest names in the underground rap syndicate, have combined their unique, and inconceivable talents to form, Blackstar. Some of you who follow Kweli may know of his cd with DJ Hi-Tek, Reflection Eternal. That is ...

Cons: 1 skit.. 1 weaker track...
The Bottom Line: Talib Kweli and Mos Def are geniuses, and they prove it with this album.
Review: Ive altered this review quite a bit from my first one... fixing a few of my childish statements, and fixing it to mix my new style, as well as adding some more information, and removing some useless. I hope you enjoy this new one more. Every ...

Pros: Superb Lyricism, great production, truthful and intelligent, underground
Cons: One weaker track
The Bottom Line: The best duo since Krs-one and Scott La Rock??-I think so!
Review: When people mention the greatest duos of all time, what names spring to you mind? For me it consists of BDP, Eric B and Rakim and Pete Rock & CL Smooth to name a few. But also along with that list a certain two ...

Black Star: Shining Brilliant Light into a Dark Hip Hop Universe |
|||
|
Pros: Excellent production, skilled and creative rap deliveries, socially conscious lyrics.
Cons: A little short.
The Bottom Line: This album is a Hip Hop classic. Nothing more needs to be said.
Review: I think the first time I really noticed Mos Def and Talib Kweli was on the original Lyricist Lounge CD. Mos Defs appearance on Body Rock was very impressive (Got the opposition shook like Tiger Woods about to tee...

Pros: Production, Lyrics, Influential (to me at least)
Cons: Hmmmmm...*ponders*
The Bottom Line: You're damn skippy I'd recommend this!
Review: Back in the day I used to be the average suburban whiteboy, listening to shitty rap (I cant believe I actually listened to Noreaga, YUCK!!!). Anyways, for me one album changed all that and it was Black Star. After listening to this CD I ...

Pros: Intelligent, socially and politically conscious hip-hop.
Cons: -
The Bottom Line: Looking for intelligent hip-hop? Hop on the Blackstar Line, you won't be disappointed.
Review: Anyone familiar with African-American history knows that Marcus Garvey planned to escort blacks from America to Africa on a fleet of ships called the "Black Star Line". He figured that blacks could not achieve social status in America, so going back to...

|
Pros: Insightful lyrics and potent messages, good hip-hop production
Cons: I'm still waiting for the second album. As for this one I'm struggling for negatives.
The Bottom Line: These two could be labelled as the best duo in hip-hop even though they have only done one album, such is the quality of this one release.
Review: Who said hip-hop was nearing its end? Yeah ok I say it all the time. One listen to this album proves there is a light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully more lights will emerge from (the) underground like these 2 men did. Mos Def and Talib Kweli...

Pros: Top notch introspective lyricism, great production, deep and interesting subject matter, skilled and varied deliveries
Cons: Several less than perfect tracks, one weaker track, thats about it
The Bottom Line: BUY THIS ALBUM!
Review: Mos Def and Talib Kweli are two quite unique rappers. Amidst a modern day hip-hop scene that has made money, guns, drugs and sex the norm for subject matter in rap songs, Mos Def and Talib Kweli shine light into the darkness. Not to say that some of the ...
