Reach Out and Touch Someone…Sort Of

by   jwazevedo ,  Aug 2, 2003
Pros: Decent audio quality and range; sturdily built; call tone for signaling intent to talk
Cons: Menu hard to read; instruction manual poor; GMRS license required for some frequencies
The Bottom Line: A well-made radio with good audio quality and all the popular features, this radio is easy to use but suffers from a small display screen and a poor manual.
Review: When I was a kid, my dad built a CB radio from a kit and spent endless evenings chatting with strang ...

Longer, Further, Uncut

by   nad_masters ,  Dec 25, 2003
Pros: Works well, long battery life, ease of use, transmit up to 5 miles
Cons: No channel scan, GMRS frequencies require licence
The Bottom Line: Another YES!
Review: The Talkabout T5720 is similar to the T 5620. So this review will read very similar to the T5620. The biggest difference is that the T5720 adds the ability to transmit up to 5 miles (using GMRS frequencies) at 1 ...

Don't expect too much

by   kaipradel ,  Sep 16, 2003
Pros: Well-built, small units that pack away easily
Cons: Not water resistant, limited range due to GMRS limitations
The Bottom Line: Good for environments such as parks, malls, or ski hills. A nice toy that works when you understand its limits.
Review: I got the Motorola T5720's with great anticipation to be able to connect to lost biking buddies on the trail but much to my disappointment had to realize that they might be better used in Disney Land than in a Mountain Bike area. But lets not skip ...

A fine 2-way radio-but stay away from water!

by   beachen ,  Jan 25, 2004
Pros: compact and light
Cons: stay away from water
The Bottom Line: Buy it and a Nimh recharger and keep the unit away from water
Review: I originally bought this radio so I could stay in touch with my 7 year old son at the park. While I have thought about these radios before for other purposes (hiking, mountain biking, shopping) I never really saw the need until my son and I became active ...

Simply great GMRS/FRS radios

by   fruityrock ,  May 18, 2004
Pros: Loads of features, great distance and battery life. Better bargain than most in this pricerange.
Cons: There aren't any real cons if you understand what your limitations are from the start.
The Bottom Line: If you're a middle of the road user like me: short spurts around the 'hood, some biking, family car trips and the like, you'll dig them.
Review: My wife and I wanted a nice durable set of radios for around the house, camp, flea markets, etc. We went through some radios from Cobra and Audiovox before buying these Motorola T5720's. We don't require super-long range, but these radios seem to go the ...

The Bottom Line: I basically bought it for the kids . Perfect for Disney parks etc. Mall.
Review: Havent tried long distances yet but close range quality is very good. I have the T5710 which i got ...

Motorola T5720 from Communications USA

by   wavey957 ,  Feb 3, 2004
Pros: Go to Communications USA at www.commusa.com.
Cons: Maybe the range, but that is expected.
Review: I went to http://www.commusa.com and I was very pleased with the price and order speed. The T5720 model boasts all of the features of the T5700, with the additional ability for you to talk hands-free with optional voice activation (VOX) accessory. Three ...
