Pros: Writing, world-building, characters
Cons: It ended!
The Bottom Line: This is an excellent urban fantasy that sucks you in and is hard to put down. Not for young or squeamish readers.
Review: Richard Mayhew lives in contemporary London, has an ordinary job, has an ordinary apartment, and is engaged to the lovely Jessica, whom Richard’s friends think is a bit stuffy and domineering. One day, as Richard and Jessica are on the way to have ...

Pros: well-crafted, entertaining, Neil Gaiman
Cons: nothing much comes to mind
The Bottom Line: It's good. Just trust me, okay?
Review: Richard Mayhew is just an ordinary guy. Hes leading the perfectly ordinary life a job he loves to hate, a lovely and annoying fiancé, deadlines and stuff, just the usual in London. He lives his life like any other guy, scrambling to stay in place ...

Pros: Weird, dark, interesting
Cons: Too many unanswered questions
The Bottom Line: If you like dark urban fantasy with odd sense of humor, this is the book for you.
Review: I took Neverwhere because a friend told me it was a great book, and I began to read it. At 3 AM, I was still reading it. I went to bed after I almost fell off the chair. First thing in the morning, I took the book again (one of the very few...

Pros: Fluid writing style, wonderful visuals, lots of twists
Cons: Leaves some questions unanswered
The Bottom Line: If you like good sci-fi fantasy stuff about alternate world, check this one out.
Review: Richard Mayhew was a normal guy, doing well for himself. In fact, he was doing better than well for himself. He had a great and successful job, and was soon to be married to Jessica, one of the more beautiful women in London.

Pros: Wonderfully fascinating dark, witty tale
Cons: Not everything is tied up neatly in the end
The Bottom Line: What if this world was just the surface and there was a magical kingdom lurking underneath our feat? Neverwhere offers the kind of realm you may never want to leave.
Review: Average Londoner Richard Mayhew is miserable. He may suspect it, but he doesn't know it. Life is not so much something he participates in as something he is swept along with, like driftwood. In other words, he resembles a lot of us, who have a job we ...

Pros: Excellent fantasy story told by a master
Cons: Reads very quickly and leaves one wanting more!
Review: "Neverwhere" is a fantasy novel by Neil Gaiman.
Perhaps it was the jarring impact of reading bad Michael Moorcock stories these past couple of days that really left me ready for a great fantasy novel set in the mystical underworld of... |

Pros: The first Gaiman book I read - it kept me coming back for more!
Cons: Wish it couldn't have ended.
The Bottom Line: The first book I read by Gaiman, this made me a Gaiman fanatic!
Review: Neil Gaiman became one of my favorite authors after reading this book. I went out and tried to find everything from him that I could get my hands on, and I'm at the stores early every time he has a new book come out. After reading this book, I was...

Pros: wonderfully written fantasy of lives that have "fallen through the cracks"
Cons: too short; I want more
Review: This is one of the strangest and most wonderful books I've ever read. Richard Mayhew stops to help a girl in trouble and gets drawn into her life. Her life is very, very different than his. Door (she has a knack for opening things) lives in London Below,...

Pros: very vivid, wonderful idea, variety of colorful characters
Cons: I finished it too quickly
Review: I discovered Neil Gaiman when I read Good Omens which he wrote with Terry Prachett (very funny book on Armageddon, check it out). Neverwhere was not similar at all. However, if you're a fan of his Sandman comics, you'll like this book.

Pros: an imaginative adventure made vivid with rich descriptions.
Cons: hmm......
Review: I once read a London guidebook that briefly mentioned the abandoned stations of the Underground and immediately my imagination sparked. When I read "Neverwhere" it was like those daydreams were expanded and improved in 400 or so pages. Neil...
