everything you need and nothing more...

by   uniq , top reviewer in Electronics at Epinions.com ,  Oct 6, 2005
Pros: Great construction, simple to use, inexpensive
Cons: no significant flaws...especially considering the price
The Bottom Line: The camera delivers where it counts. It's simple to use ( for those who prefer manual photography) and has an awful lot of features for it's price.
Review: If you wonder why companies still make film, then the FM10 is not for you. If you can't live without auto-focus or program mode, then the FM10 is not for you. BUT.......if you actually enjoy using a camera in manual mode, or you prefer a camera that ...

You See What You Get

by   frainke ,  Nov 29, 2001
Pros: Totally Manual and easy to use. Excellent camera for quality shots.
Cons: Some areas made of plastic on the body.
The Bottom Line: DIY and get results like a professional.
Review: Out off all the things I wanted this year for Christmas it was the Nikon FM10. I have always preferred manual cameras and for one main reason. What you see is what you get. Unlike other cameras where you can look through the viewfinder, see a great shot...

A very good (but not perfect) camera for astrophotography and nighttime photography.

by   jsquarejj ,  Dec 18, 2003
Pros: Fully manual operation, no battery needed, vast supply of new and used lenses and accessories
Cons: Standard starter package not appropriate, focusing screens not interchangeable
The Bottom Line: A very good camera for astrophotography because of its overall quality and all manual, no battery needed operation. Excellent availability of lenses, accessories, instruction manuals, advice, repairs.
Review: There are already enough great reviews to help you decide whether or not the Nikon FM10 is the camera for you, so I won't write another one. This one is a bit esoteric--it only discusses the suitability of the FM10 for astrophotography, an admittedly ...

This camera gets picked on!!!

by   tatejackson ,  Aug 29, 2004
Pros: Its a Nikon Uses Nikon Lenses Feels good in Hand Plentiful on the used market
Cons: Not All Nikon lens will work. Can be overpriced on the used market
The Bottom Line: If you want an inexpensive manual SLR in the NIKON line, get it. You won't be sorry
Review: Ladies and Gentleman, this camera is not an F5. One should not expect to feel or act like one. It's Nikon's low cost "My First SLR" type of camera. It fits its role very well. I bought his camera on an impulse. I'm glad I did. I got it off of ...

Great Camera, only problem is how limited your imagination is.

by   hilighter88 ,  Jan 30, 2003
Pros: Takes almost every Nikkor Lens. Nice little camera
Cons: It's a 250 manual camera what do you expect?
The Bottom Line: Self explanatory, manual $250 dollar camera. Buy good lenses (they will cost more than the camera) and go home happy.
Review: First off, note the price. Around 200-250 dollars. Do not expect this camera to knock your socks off such as a F100 or F5. Get serious here. It's a 100 percent manual camera, just like every other review says. The single best thing is that it...

Excellent budget all-manual student camera

by   kundansen ,  Dec 7, 2000
Pros: Great student camera - depth of field, split screen, multiple exposures, battery free (nearly), compatible with most Nikon lenses
Cons: Does not come with the coolness of an automatic SLR
Review: Do you like stick shift autos, do-it-yourself kits, and want to get a hands-on on taking good pictures? This camera may just be for you.

Warning - if you are looking for an SLR to graduate from your all-automatic point and shoot,...

Best beginners camera

by   zeu96a ,  Jan 24, 2000
Pros: Price, Quality, Brand, Warranty, Capabilities, Learning Experience
Cons: Flash must be purchased separately, winder might get in the way.
Review: The Nikon FM-10 is the best beginners camera on the market. In contrast with other camera manufacturers, Nikon is the best name in the market.

I shopped long and hard for a camera that escaped the cheap, plastic,"point and shoot"...

WOW!!!!

by   k_heiner ,  Dec 11, 2004
Pros: Metering, Battery Life, Reliability
Cons: Loud Shutter, Some Cheap Plastic Parts
Review: The Nikon has an amazing metering system that gives you the perfect lighting every time. The shutter is a bit too loud. This camera has many great lenses that it can be used ...

a great camera, period.

by   combusto ,  Jan 20, 2004
Pros: ease of use, no computer control, zoom lens, ergonomics
Cons: the only thing to bring this camera down is me.
Review: I purchased my FM10 about 4 years ago and i can honestly say i've never had a problem with it. It's design is lightweight and effecient and doesn't many of the things that seem common to cameras these days. Some may concider this a negative but i ...

Budget Nikon Delivers - FM10

by   Howard_Creech , lead in Electronics at Epinions.com ,  May 27, 2000
Pros: tough, lightweight, cheap
Cons: no automation
The Bottom Line: The Nikon FM10 is the cheapest entry to the extensive Nikon camera/lens system. A capable performer for a bargain price.
Review: A few years back Nikon Corporation entered into an agreement with Cosina to produce a camera that Nikon would market in the third world. Cosina was the right choice, since they had been manufacturing just the camera that Nikon wanted, for many years....
