Nikon's N65 - A Beginner's Gateway to Excellence

by   sweeper , lead in Electronics at Epinions.com ,  Dec 15, 2000
Pros: A Worthy Introduction to Nikon's 35mm SLR System
Cons: Takes away any excuses for not going Nikon
The Bottom Line: The Nikon N65 should be high on the list of choices for those considering the move to SLR photography.
Review: What a wonderful time to be an aspiring photographer. A novitiate image-maker today has never had a greater choice in cameras or seen better value and number of features for the money. Even as high tech digital imaging becomes increasingly popular with ...

Wonderful New Camera

by   elmoebeesn ,  Dec 7, 2000
Pros: nice features, fairly inexpensive, good quality images
Cons: none
Review: I recently had the chance to try this new camera from Nikon before it had been released to the public. It seems as if Nikon is coming out with something for everyone these days and this camera further extends their increasing popularity and diversity....

by   tch7 ,  Nov 21, 2003
Pros: Quality/Durability, Lightweight, Loaded with features, Picture Quality, Easy to use
Cons: It doesn't like falling down scree slopes...
The Bottom Line: The N65/F65 is a wonderful camera that is great for anybody and is one of my best purchases.
Review: For Christmas 2001 I received/purchased the F65 (N65 in the US) as a camera that would fulfill my newfound hobby of photography. I didn't need anything fancy, but something that would provide great quality, be lightweight (for backpacking), and offered a ...

Great SLR body for amateurs at any level

by   sjdorn ,  Aug 24, 2003
Pros: Easy on virtually any setting: a tool for your eye, not your hand
Cons: Awkward maneuvering for manual settings; unknown/inconsistent manual flash; no way to set film speed manually
The Bottom Line: A joy to use
Review: I am an amateur photographer who occasionally returns to the hobby for the joy of it. I first took ...

Excellent beginner SLR camera

by   Kibaima ,  Dec 13, 2000
Pros: Great price, 2.5 fps., depth-of-field preview, 3D Matrix metering, Nikkor-lens compatible, portability, ease-of-use, durability
Cons: may be not enough for pro photographers
Review: I was tired of less-than-great quality pictures. Yet as a beginner, I was concerned about the difficulty of an SLR. At first I wanted to buy a point-and-shoot, but I've always had those, and wanted to get better pictures.

Then I heard...

A highly cost-effective model

by   samnwong ,  Dec 28, 2001
Pros: professional features at a consumer price
Cons: lacks spot metering, slow flash sync, no backlit LCD
The Bottom Line: Go get one if you're beginners. Go get one (as backup) if you're professionals. You won't be let down by this sophisticated model for all levels.
Review: I'm an F65 (called N65 in US) user in Hong Kong and this one is my first SLR which I bought three months ago during a promotion period at ~HKD2500 (~US 320) with a bonus camera bag. I knew nothing about photography before I bought it and now I've learned...

Introducing the N65!

by   phatmojo ,  Nov 10, 2000
Pros: Packed full of features
Cons: Cannot manually set ISO (push/pull film)
Review: A while back I remember getting my first SLR: the N60. As a growing photographer, I totally loved it. It had everything I thought I wanted in a camera, and I thought we were inseparable; a few weeks later we parted. In the matter of a few...

Nikon N65 -- mmmm camera. Tasty.

by   thefuzzball ,  Jul 9, 2002
Pros: Go manual or go point-and-shoot, metal lens mount point, multiple eyepieces.
Cons: Manual settings require two hands
The Bottom Line: This is a camera for someone with photography experience to transition into. Too difficult, and too much camera if you want point-and-shoot simplicity. Handles beautifully. Takes excellent pictures.
Review: I bought this camera as part of a kit including film, camera strap, eyepiece and zoom lens. I bought the camera because it could be fully manual or a point and shoot when I wanted it. An added bonus was the metal lens mount point. The mount point and...

Nikon N65- Beginners to Serious Ameteurs

by   truesunn ,  Nov 25, 2002
Pros: User friendly, 5 programmed modes, fully automatic capabilities, manual operation
Cons: The G lens that comes with it is garbage. Good lenses are expensive!
The Bottom Line: Great camera for beginner to serious ameteur. User friendly and takes great pics with the right lenses!
Review: I recently received the N65 camera body as a gift. I personally had used point and shoot 35 mm and fully manual Minolta SLRs, but never anything like this! I would say I am a serious ameteur.

The N65 offers a fully automatic operation mode...

by   mrbomba ,  Jul 11, 2003
Pros: Autofocus, ease of use, price, quality of the pictures
Cons: Flash
The Bottom Line: It is great camera if you want to take great pictures but don't want to spend great deal of money on pro camera.
Review: I bought this camera as a stepping stone into photography. I have tried Minolta Maxxum 4 and 5, and ...
