Pro Features & Images At A Less Than Pro Price.

by   colonialpara , top reviewer in Electronics at Epinions.com ,  Mar 25, 2007
Pros: Professional features and images, robust, pro build quality.
Cons: Initial cost to purchase.
The Bottom Line: If you cannot afford or don't need the Nikon D2Xs, the D200 is an OUTSTANDING alternative!
Review: The Nikon D200 digital SLR is Nikon's first 10.2 MP camera and while it offers a little less resolution than Nikon's current flagship, the D2Xs, it provides users with professional level features and images at a less than full scale professional price. ...

The Nikon D200: A Field Evaluation and Comparison.

by   jvandegr , top reviewer in Electronics at Epinions.com ,  May 3, 2006
Pros: Best digital SLR ergonomics available, rugged, superb image quality, great value.
Cons: 1.5X crop factor, limited dynamic range, no sensor debris filter, Nikon Capture not included.
The Bottom Line: Easily recommended to professional photographers and advanced amateurs. Professional build quality, excellent image quality, and the most intuitive controls available.
Review: This review is being updated frequently as I have more time to discover the D200's strengths and weaknesses. Thanks to Paul (colonialpara) for reminding me of some key issues. Introduction I shoot primarily with Nikon 35mm film SLR ...

A camera of many considerations...

by   vincedog3 ,  Nov 22, 2006
Pros: D2x D.N.A. Strong body build, features. Great for the rough and tumble photo beings.
Cons: Expensive, heavy for some,D80 weakens the D200s case.
The Bottom Line: A camera of the times. 2005 sweetheart. 2006 has another sweetheart, the D80.
Review: Everyone has very well documented the features and performance of the D200 beautifully, so hopefully I will not repeat too many observations here. I own the Nikon D70s as well, and have a basic compliment of lenses. The 70mm to 300mm and the 18mm to ...

A superb camera

by   userleif ,  Jul 2, 2006
Pros: Excellent image quality, build and performance. Bright viewfinder.
Cons: Not cheap, high ISO noise.
The Bottom Line: he D200 is a superb camera and in the right hands can produce superb images. But be aware that it is a merciless judge of lenses and photographic technique.
Review: Introduction Like many others I rushed to place an order as soon as the D200 was announced. Several months later, and I became the lucky owner of a camera from the second batch to reach the UK. I paid £1200, a £100 reduction on the RRP of £1300. ...

Fills a niche and does it well, very well

by   prashton ,  Oct 31, 2006
Pros: Solid but not too heavy, excellent ergonomics, smart design
Cons: The flash sync and remote socket protection caps fall off too easily.
The Bottom Line: I have recommended this camera to several other buyers and they all report back that they are well pleased with the D200.
Review: The D200 fits into the Nikon range between the professional D2 and the consumer models (D50, D70 etc.). It provides good value for money and a solid, reliable basis for digital photography. The ergonomics are excellent and attention to detail is very ...

Love This Camera

by   krich72 ,  Dec 2, 2006
Pros: Excellent picture quality; fast; relatively easy to use.
Cons: Price.
The Bottom Line: This is a great camera for people who seriously love photography.
Review: I considered myself a semi-professional photographer at one time, but when I decided that I really "needed" a camera after fifteen plus years out of the field, I found that I did not know anything about digital slrs. I ran out and bought what seemed to ...

It's been a Roller Coaster Ride....but worth it!

by   kfor ,  Mar 18, 2006
Pros: Easy to use; large viewing screen; one of the best viewfinders.
Cons: Initial bobble with the shutter problem.
The Bottom Line: Get it! If you have a D1X at twice the price, dump it and get this.
Review: I definitely think Nikon has a winner here. Originally I was going to get a D70s but when I heard about the D200, I waited. I'm glad I did....well, based on four days of use. I placed my D200 on order in mid February. I was immediately told that it ...

A Fantastic Camera

by   dswayze ,  Apr 1, 2006
Pros: Great build quality, fantastic resolution and colour balance
Cons: High resolution requires careful shooting technique and exposes sloppy shooting. Battery life a little short.
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this camera. It has the perfect balance of quality and cost. Suitable for the advanced amateur or professional, the D200 gives you the best of both worlds.
Review: This is my first Digital SLR. I've been a Nikon user for the last 15 years, starting off with a Nikon FM and slowly upgrading through to a F90x and now the D200. Given my investment in Nikon glass and my complete satisfaction with Nikon's quality, I ...

Pro-level at consumer price

by   mr_scayf ,  Mar 14, 2009
Pros: Magnesium body
Pro features
Size
Cons: No sensor for ML-L3
The Bottom Line: This may be "old" technology, but with the price coming down to $600 (from likr $1600), it's well worth it.
Review: I've been jonsin' for the D200 for about a year, and finally got one. At $600, the price was right. This won't be a technical review; it's a user review, because I'm no technician. You want specs, go to dpreview.com. This is my fourth ...

Perfect camera for any situation

by   christinacraft ,  Mar 28, 2007
Pros: Meters with 1970s lenses
Cons: Digital noise is ugly past ISO400
The Bottom Line: I save thousands of dollars by being able to meter an older manual focus 600mm manual focus lens from the 1970s with the D200.
Review: I do both wedding and wildlife photography and often shoot 1,000 pictures in a session. I need a camera that can stand up to the elements and shoot in any situation. The D200 never misses a beat. What I like: It's sturdy enough to hold up to blinding ...
