Sex on wheels!

by   Almighty ,  Jan 12, 2000
Pros: Price, quality
Cons: none
Review: I'm the original owner of a 1998 Nissan Altima GXE and I can say with near certainty that it's the best valued car available.

It has great acceleration despite the lack of a V6. It came stocked with all the needed extras without any...

1998 Nissan Altima- Great car

by   stillinschool ,  Nov 1, 2003
Pros: price, features, reliability
Cons: rear middle seat,
The Bottom Line: Get one if you can, i think you can get a good used one for about 8-10 grand.
Review: In 1998 it was time for our family to get a new car. We wanted something reliable, roomy, and less than 20k, at the time there were many cars on the market, like the Toyota Camry and Honda accord, but they cost more and didn’t have all the features we wa ...

the underrated midsized sedan

by   ryandb2 ,  Jul 30, 2002
Pros: Cheap, decent power, nice interior, nice standard options
Cons: Styling, handling.
The Bottom Line: A great mid sized sedan that will last a long time. Add the sticker price, repairs, and the 25+ MPG and your wallet will be happy.
Review:
The 1998 Nissan Altima is pound for pound a much better car than most people give it credit for.

Engine- The 150 horsepower 163 ft pound torque engine is enough to give you the feeling of power when you need it.
It is a 2.4 Inline...

In a word "dependable"

by   larsenaust ,  Dec 11, 1999
Pros: Total dependability and economy
Cons: None
Review: Hats off to Nissan for the quality built Altima! I bought a 1998 LXE for business purposes and have put over 20,000 miles on the car each of the past two years. With the exception of tires and regular oil changes I have had absolutely zero problems with...

A Quiet Ride in a Beautiful Car

by   duncansmomma ,  Aug 11, 2000
Pros: Very large inside, looks great, good gas mileage
Cons: Non that I can think of
Review: There is one thing that has to be said about this car... ROOMY! I owned a 1995 Altima and it was wonderful. When I baby-sat my nephew there was plenty of room to put the car seat, and you didn't have to move the front seat any. My best friend has this...

Pleasant Surprise

by   descmath ,  Mar 27, 2001
Pros: Fantastic mid size car. 30MPG, low maintenance
Cons: too sexy for a lump like me
The Bottom Line: A great car ownership experience
Review: I actually bought this car as a favor for a friend who was going overseas. Although the Nissan Altima was off my radar at the time, I've been pleasantly surprised.

For the price category, the car handles well. It has a great style, and has not...

great car for the bucks

by   turvy ,  Dec 17, 1999
Pros: smooth, comfortable, peppy, attractive
Cons: fuel efficiency not as high as others in its class
Review: While the Altima gets slightly less fuel efficiency than the Geo Prizm I used to own, it is, in my opinion, a much better value. The 5-speed is easy to shift, the steering is easy but firm, and the acceleration is peppy but not break-neck. I am also...

Great Car for Basic Transportation

by   mustang5oh ,  Mar 15, 2005
Pros: Inexpensive used, economical, reliable, thrifty
Cons: if needed, parts can be harder to find and more expensive than american made cars
The Bottom Line: For the money, it is a good buy. Be carefull where/who you buy yours from. Learn as much history as possible. Don't recommend getting an automatic.
Review: My wife and I decided after 3 years driving a gas sucking full size SUV, we had had enough. We were tired of 13mpg around town, high payments and insurance. We found a one owner 1998 Nissan Altima with 60K on it (this was late 2003)with a 5 speed to ...

I like the Altima

by   nova17fox ,  Apr 22, 2003
Pros: Price, Tough Car
Cons: Steering wheel vibration at certain high speeds, Cabin Noise
The Bottom Line: This is a great car for college and small family. It is a sturdy car, I reccomend it.
Review: My dad got this car for me because I go to college 6 hours awayfrom home. I looked at a camry and the altima. I liked the camry but it was priced higher than the altima. The cam. was about 14-15k and my altima cost 12500 with 12k miles on it, we...

Has been worth the money!

by   mbreed8813 ,  Apr 12, 2000
Pros: A lot for the money.
Cons: None
Review: We purchased a 1998 Nissan Altima a little over two years ago, and it has been money well spent. The main reason we bought the Altima was because we felt we were getting the most bang for our buck. We paid about $18,000 for a GLE... and that included...
