Pros: Small size, construction, sound quality, direct USB, versatility, price

Review: I’ve been part of a 5-piece Irish/Celtic band for the past 3 years, and in that time I’ve never needed a recorder since three of the other members had portable recorders to record our rehearsals, and provided the rest of us with CDs to use for ...

Pros: Size, Performance, Features
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: I definitely recommend the Olympus ws-100 to anyone looking for a digital recorder.
Review: The Olympus ws-100 is a digital recorder that I have found to be very useful.  I work in law enforcement and take the Olympus ws-100 with me whenever I'm on duty as a back-up to my in car dash camera.  It fits nicely in my shirt pocket so it is ...

Great beginner audio recorder

by   kinare ,  Aug 2, 2008
Pros: Long battery life, lots of space for audio interviews, incredibly easy to use
Cons: Does not do laundry or dishes.
The Bottom Line: This is a dependable, easy-to-use beginner recorder. Add a microphone and you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between this and a more expensive model.
Review: As a working journalist, I bought this recorder when conducting interviews with politicians. I wanted to make sure none of them could claim I fabricated a quote. Eventually, my audio recordings evolved into a weekly podcast at my newspaper. This ...

Amazingly passed the wash test!!

by   jocobelli ,  May 27, 2006
Pros: Battery life, size, sensitivity and pickup in a large group, survives being washed!
Cons: buttons are a little on the small side, finish rubbed off easily, no back light
Review: This product is amazing! I had accidentally put it through a full wash cycle (including the spin dry) and it still worked. Took about 3 months to dry out and I wouldn't recommend "trying this at home" but I had to let the world know it passed the wash ...

HaplessChild Geeks Out with the Olympus Digital Voice Recorder.

by   HaplessChild ,  May 4, 2006
Pros: Lightweight, easy to use, records well, lasts a long time.
Cons: Hasn't provided concrete proof of the paranormal.
The Bottom Line: Beyond ghost hunting, this voice recorder will work for a variety of purposes.
Review: A simple thought concerning Freak369 ’s Great Geek Write Off: It is not the object that is geeky; it is the person who beholds the object which causes it to be “of geekness.” Keeping that in mind, ...

Pros: Easy connectivity, Good capacity, Good sensitivity, Good audio quality
Cons: AAA battery needs to be changed relatively frequently
The Bottom Line: This little recorder provides good quality audio and lots of recording features. Extremely easy and convenient to connect.

Olympus Digital WS300M

by   smokierose ,  Dec 28, 2006
Pros: Size plus USB connection. Intuitive
Cons: Buy the 1G memory model if you can afford it
Review: I play in a Folk Group and needed something to record/learn Tunes. I tried a Sony Cassette Recorder - but recording time too short. Then A Sharp Mini Disc Recorder - good but no way to 'burn result' to CD. Next a Zen Mp3/Radio Recorder - too small ...

Problems with WMA format on the Mac...

by   Miditrax ,  Apr 11, 2006
Pros: Portable, AAA battery, long recording time. Voice Activation and energy-saving Pause features.
Cons: Not really a professional recorder - picks up background noise
The Bottom Line: Not the best for Mac users...
Review: I paid a bit more than I wanted at Fry's for this, but I was looking for a dedicated portable recorder for voice and music. The WS-100 certainly fits the bill in the portability department; hand-held, it can easily pick up conversation (and noise) ...
