Best system package for the price

by   nairdnat ,  Dec 9, 2002
Pros: Video & sound switching simultaneously, best sound, price, works great as full or partial upgrade
Cons: Doesn't have component video, remote doesn't control CATV
The Bottom Line: For the price and features, there is no better buy. The best sound, just like the movie theater, actually, no. It's definitely better!!!!
Review: This system sounds amazing!! Better than many others I have heard. I really like that this receiver will switch the sound and the image on the TV with the same button press, as opposed to have to change the sound on the receiver, and then the video...

One Rocking System - You Will Not Be Disappointed

by   benminer ,  Nov 11, 2002
Pros: Awesome sound. Many Features. Receiver Looks Good. Many connections on back.
Cons: Speaker Size. Remote none too pretty. DVD player not included.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking to spend about $500 for a system, and don't mind buying your own DVD player, you can't go wrong with the HT-S650
Review: IMPORTANT:

--
No matter what system you ultimately buy, make sure you buy it from an AUTHORIZED dealer or your warranty might be worthless. And just because a merchant says they are authorized on their website does not automatically not...

Best cost/benefit in HTiB

by   kapshus ,  Jan 5, 2004
Pros: Best cost/benefit of any system under $2000.
Cons: At this price, I can't muster any real criticism.
The Bottom Line: If you need audio for your Home Theater, buy it. NOW!
Review: I have looked at a number of systems from Bose, Sony, Yamaha, and JBL, and this system easily delivers more for the money. I have been using the system for three months now, and I have no complaints. Some people have mentioned the "larger" size of ...

Onkyo has done it!

by   wsandman ,  Oct 10, 2002
Pros: Best bang for your buxs!!! Unbalivable price.
Cons: None. They did it all right.
The Bottom Line: If everyone knew about this, Sony and everyone else wouldn't sell any theater in a box systems. They don't even compare in quality. They arn't even in the same class.
Review: I picked this system out for my folks. However, I had the challange of finding a good system without costing alot of money. Till Onkyo made this little package, this task was impossible.

To compare with what I know: I have been a audio...

Outstanding Little Onkyo !

by   bluewilly1 ,  Aug 26, 2002
Pros: Sleek, compact design. Quality electronics. NICE SUB ! Upgradeable!
Cons: , Satelites slightly harsh when pushed.
The Bottom Line: Ive been in A/V sales (Retail) for 3 yrs. . I compared this first-hand to many similar systems. Quality-Sound-Price this is BEST IN ITS CLASS. LOVELY!
Review: I really like this little system, it has everything one
really "NEEDS" in a compact HTIB, (Home Theater In a Box).
The unit is super-sharp looking A/V Reciever, looks expensive
front panel, Of course
main attraction here is simplicity...

Best bang for your buck, great system for anyone with no experience to an expert

by   i_hate_myself ,  Jan 16, 2003
Pros: Inexpensive Great Sounding Easy Setup Overall great starter system
Cons: Cheap speaker wire Fairly large
The Bottom Line: The reason the sound wasn't a 5 is that I have heard some $2000 systems that this doesn't quite compare with. Two words: Simply Amazing
Review: This was my first home theater system I purchased. I decided to purchase it after reading all the reviews that just kept stating how amazing it was.

Since I got it, I haven't had one regret. The receiver has all the inputs and outputs you...

A Diamond amongst the rocks.

by   teotwawki ,  Mar 31, 2003
Pros: Receiver quality is Very Good. Speakers are well balanced.
Cons: Not exactly Small. Thin speaker-wire will not bring out full potential.
The Bottom Line: It will outperform any HTIB's twice its value. You can also upgrade with different speakers if you choose too in the future, the receiver will more than handle the enhancement.
Review: Let's face it, HTIB's or "Home Theaters In a Box" are the ideal solution for most homes. They're tidy, able to fit in most places, and as for value, they won't leave moths is your already-strained wallet/purse. I've visited all the stores: Best Buy's,...

by   mforeman ,  Jan 10, 2005
Pros: Great Sound, Many imputs/outputs, easy to set up, eay to control
Cons: Not a cheap system & speakerwire that it comes with cheap and must be replaced
Review: I bought this home theatre system in late august 2002 and I have not been more happy with a purchase I have ever made. It is simple to set up and control, and sounds phenomenal. It gets a bit pricey because the optical & coaxial digital audio imputs. But ...
