Very good camera but necessarily compromised

by   taquechi ,  Jan 5, 2004
Pros: great build quality, fun lens, IS works, focus ring works
Cons: noisy, no dedicated aperture/shutter controls, IS not as effective as with the FZ1
The Bottom Line: Best point and shoot in the market. No SLR killer. Proprietary battery not a problem - available for $20 in Ebay.
Review: I've owned a variety of cameras, including the Lumix FZ1. It was the wondeful FZ1 that compelled me to purchase the FZ10 as soon as I could. I had never even seen one before I popped $550 on one over the internet. Since many people, websites and of ...

Very Sharp well exposed pictures, great camera!

by   davisdezigns ,  Mar 7, 2004
Pros: Sharp excellent picts! Stabilized lense!
Cons: No lense strap- no big deal, you can buy an attatchable one cheap.
The Bottom Line: lense takes great picts at long range thanks to the stabilized lense, it takes high quality crystal clear picts--I'm a perfectionast, I highly recomend this camera!
Review: I looked at ALL othe digital camera out there, took each Ultra zoom camera home and tested them myself in all light conditions (I'm a bit of a perfectionist) and this one is wwwaaayyyyyy better then the-- Olympus C750. (The Lumix has faster shutter ...

Hard to capture toddlers in action with this camera, but great for priceless closeups

by   justjennifer ,  Dec 16, 2004
Pros: 12x zoom. Great quality. Minimal Shutter lag. Price is right. Many manual options.
Cons: Hard to focus in low light. Battery needs to be taken out to charge.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for high quality and control, this is a great camera. Easy to learn for someone "upgrading" from a simple point and click.
Review: I bought this camera to replace a 3 year old Sony Cybershot, which I still love. But I felt I needed higher resolution/quality pictures of my children growing up. After the first few weeks, I am slowly getting used to this camera. It's not the type of ...

Professional quality photographs from a top-of-the-line amateur camera

by   tiffanyjill ,  Dec 29, 2003
Pros: 12x optical zoom, 4.0 megapixel, changeable lens, changeable flash, manual and automatic modes
Cons: Lens cap doesn't attach to camera, viewfinder is stationary and exposed, no firewire connection
The Bottom Line: Digital camera with all the bells and whistles of a professional camera, but minus the pricetag. If this is what you're looking for, you've found it.
Review: Digital cameras are now very easy to find and their prices range from cheap to expensive. If you don't know what you are really interested in when you begin your search for a camera, you are likely to choose whichever one sounds the best at the time and ...

Almost, but not quite, a true professional's camera

by   googam ,  Apr 28, 2004
Pros: One of the finest digital cameras you can buy.
Cons: Are you sure you need this much camera?
The Bottom Line: You really should be an accomplished 35mm shooter before you spend $500 on a camera this good.
Review: This camera is so complex, with so many features, you need to visit Steve's Digicams website to get the full impact of everything this camera has. The web address for Steve's review of this camera is: ...

Fun and versatile

by   john21a ,  May 13, 2004
Pros: Super telephoto; image stabilization; many features
Cons: Kinda big.
Review: This camera reminds me of my Nikon SLR which was my mainstay for years. After some practice, I can take pictures any time, and virtually anyplace. The stabilization feature allows me to photograph at a shutter speed as low as 1/4 second (inside a ...

Amazing zoom, decent digital camera

by   dzoey ,  Feb 6, 2004
Pros: Awesome 12x lens, image stabilization, lots of manual controls
Cons: Weak built-in flash. Indoor shots require practice. No strap on lens cap.
The Bottom Line: A great camera that especially shines when using the big zoom for outdoor nature shots.
Review: I've used this camera for a couple of weeks now (got it mid-January '04) and feel I've gotten to know it fairly well after taking about 700 photos during our Disney World trip. I bought this camera primarily for the image stabilized 12x Zoom lens (to ...

Pray it doesn't break on holidays!

by   sportsbug ,  Aug 7, 2004
Pros: Lens, Zoom, stabilizer were all recommended as top of the line.
Cons: Servicing of the camera is solely done in the U.S. Poor construction of battery contacts.
Review: I purchased this camera based on reviews I'd read here and another two camera sites. After 3 weeks of 50/50 pic quality, I took the camera and manual on holidays. One of the prongs broke in the battery compartment rendering it useless. On contacting ...
