Panasonic Lumix® DMC-FX01 Digital Camera Rivals Canon SD700

by   dkozin , lead in Electronics at Epinions.com ,  Sep 28, 2006
Pros: Long battery life, image stabilization, low price, image quality, wide angle, compact
Cons: Slightly higher noise than Canon SD700, black case prone smudges, LCD washes out in sunlight
The Bottom Line: I like the Panasonic FX01 overall, and like it better than the Canon SD700. Although no digital camera provides me with final prints that rival...
Review: After using and selling the C anon SD700 IS, I have purchased the Panasonic DMC-FX01. The FX01 is similar to the Canon SD700: it has compact design, large LCD and optical image stabilization. The Canon SD700 is slightly ...

A small camera compromise champion

by   how2buy101 ,  Jun 24, 2006
Pros: Take-it-all-in wide angle: point and click almost always gets a useable picture.
Cons: Relatively noisy (mostly chrominance), noticeable in large blowups. No zoom in movie mode.
The Bottom Line: Unique combination of wide angle lens, image stabilization, and compactness. Gives reliable great results in more situations. Minor compromises in low light. Joyfully uncomplicated ease of use. Totally lovable.
Review: Ease of use matters! When it comes to cameras, it's easy to let your desire for perfection get in the way of letting you take as many pictures as you should. I ooh and ah over the gorgeous, near noiseless photos from my Digital Rebel SLR (also 6 ...

Nice, small, wide-angle (28 mm) camera

by   netbob30 ,  May 30, 2007
Pros: Does a great job at nearly everything you would expect of a digital camera.
Cons: Sometimes does not focus correctly when dark, distance, flash photo.
The Bottom Line: Has a simple setting for every purpose. Fool proof for beginners, easy enough for anyone, satisfies the more demanding needs. Excellent lens. "No shake" setting really works. Love it.
Review: Where to begin? When it comes to cameras, probably with a description of what I use it for. I am usually a casual photographer. The snapshot guy, indoors and out. The camera needs to be small enough to fit in a shirt pocket. Doesn’t matter how great ...

THIS IS IT--SMALL SHARP STYLING QUICK and CONVENIENT what else is there??

by   wmjaeger ,  May 15, 2006
Pros: SMALL, SHARP, WIDE ANGLE, CUTE
Cons: If I haven't found them by now, there aren't any to worry about.
The Bottom Line: If you want the small size and the wide angle option, no need to look further.
Review: A true POCKET camera. There are few digital cameras of any sort that zoom as wide as 28mm, which has always been a kind of "standard" lens for many people, including photojournalists. That means it really is essential as an option--and of course ...

Great Point and Shoot Camera for Average/Simple User

by   mehtad1963 ,  Aug 16, 2006
Pros: Price, Leica lens, compact design, battery life, image stabilizer, wide-angle 28mm lens
Cons: Battery charging requires removing battery from the camera. No case included
The Bottom Line: For this price point you cannot get another camera that offers Leica lens, image stabilizer and a compact design small enough to display on your palm.
Review: I have owned it for less than 7 days thus far, and the camera has satisfied me thus far. I did some research prior to buying the FX01 - key points that influenced my decision were: 1. Leica 28mm wide-angle lens in a compact camera 2. Great battery ...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01 Digital Camera

by   mopinions ,  Oct 23, 2006
Pros: Beautiful pictures, Battery life, Usability, Display screen, controls, Robust
Cons: low light situations, flash
The Bottom Line: This camera rocks! For the money, I don't think you'll find a better buy.
Review: I recently purchased a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01 from B&H Photo in New York City. I use the camera as an everyday accessory to capture everything and anything of importance including my children, my remodeling project and artistic excursions. I am ...

The Panasonic FX-01 is a great camera for a realtor, or anyone else

by   amarketman ,  May 24, 2006
Pros: Powerful, portable, flexible, and relatively inexpensive.
Cons: I haven't found any yet.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this camera to others because it performs extremely well and yet is relatively inexpensive.
Review: I would like to let others know that the FX-01 has proven to be an excellent camera. As a real estate broker, a feature I particularly appreciate is that I can take a sharp 6 mega pixel picture and then easily create a copy of that picture with less ...

Great Camera

by   schmeetz ,  Oct 2, 2006
Pros: thin, easy to use, large LCD
Cons: none that i've noticed so far aside from the lens extension issue.
Review: I purchased the Panasonic DMC-FX01 a couple of weeks ago and overall it's excellent! LCD - Huge LCD screen on the back which is clear and bright. My old Canon 3.0 megapixel screen was half the size. It really helps when deciding to keep or trash a ...

Great Camera

by   doubled22 ,  Jun 26, 2006
Pros: Small, lightweight, flexible camera with lots of capability.
Cons: Picture size on back circle button versus the selftimer would make this a better camera.
Review: I took this camera to Philmont Scout reservation on a 62 mile trek. I took photos before, during and after in all types of lighting conditions and situations and got lots of good photos. I purchase 2 additional 1300 mAh batteries and was able to take ...

WOW! Good all around camera, only 1 iffy

by   marytalk ,  Jun 4, 2006
Pros: Small, amazing battery, good video, good low light
Cons: Video start LAG and Stop EARLY.
Review: The camera is great. Lag for STILLS is very small, focus is great, the candlelight scene mode allows pictures normally wouldn't capture & the image stabilization allows the noise to be low. I've used it at T-Ball games and our 20th anniversary party ...
