What a camera!

by   navy95 ,  Sep 4, 2006
Pros: Zoom, ease of use, video capability
Cons: No viewfinder; autofocus is a bit sluggish
The Bottom Line: This is a fantastic camera--Good quality, ease of use, and packed with features at a great price!
Review: This is one great camera! I got this 5 Megapixel camera (which I'll refer to as the "TZ") to replace my dying Fuji Finepix 2800 (2.1 Megapixels), which is several years old and very outdated--this gives you an idea as to where I'm coming from with my ...

Very compact 10X optically stabilized value

by   wingerr ,  Dec 24, 2006
Pros: 10X optically stabilized zoom, Quality construction, feel and appearance, Value for price
Cons: Soft focus appearance in some shooting modes. Small buttons for cursor selection
The Bottom Line: Bargain values available for a camera with unique capability of 10X optically stabilized zoom and high ISO mode.
Review: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 Mission statement: The main features of this camera which prompted my purchase of it was the 10X optical zoom with stabilization, and its ISO 1600 capability. The Leica name emblazoned on the front of the lens ...

One of the best buys out there

by   scotiaguy ,  Nov 27, 2007
Pros: Zoom while videoing, Optical zoom size, excellent stabilization capabilities, ease of use, SD memory.
Cons: No viewfinder, difficult to see screen in strong daylight.
The Bottom Line: Add a viewfinder to this, and I think it would be best point & shoot digital I've come across.
Review: Why did I buy this? I am frequently required to electronically post photos & occasionally videos to illustrate points I am making to my company from a remote location, so I need a camera for work. As a long term Canon user and lover, I ...

Wow! What a great camera!

by   bpeelle ,  Nov 17, 2006
Pros: 10x zoom, very portable, quick start-up, lots of setting choices, still simple for beginners.
Cons: Minor - manual lens cap. Upload to PC is 4 seconds per quality picture.
The Bottom Line: Definitely recommend to beginner and moderate photographer.
Review: I had a film SLR and loved to experiment with all the manual adjustments. My wife likes a simple point-and-shoot camera. This is a great compromise. There is a "Simple" setting for her to use, and I just move the selector two positions to "Normal" ...

by   2000000 ,  Nov 22, 2006
Pros: 10x Optical Zoom. Quality Feel. Compact & Strong. Scene Presets. Good Focus Speed & Startup.
Cons: Sort of would like a view finder.
The Bottom Line: Pocket size, great fun and easy to use yet has adjustments if desired. Optical Zoom is absolutely excellent. High Quality Pictures.
Review: I purchased this camera about two months ago to replace a Nikon D50 Digital SLR. Although a beautiful camera, I found the Nikon was too big for my needs and I wanted a camera with great optical zoom without the need to change lenses. I also own a ...

Great Little Superzoom Digital Camera

by   tooluser_ ,  May 13, 2006
Pros: Compact, image stabilized, high quality 10x zoom lens, fully featured.
Cons: No viewfinder, no RAW mode, needs very fast SD card for best video performance.
The Bottom Line: This is a great little camera in a small package. Image quality and features are top-notch. Image stabilization is a tremendously good feature. I like it!
Review: I was looking for a digital camera that would replace my 35mm film SLR camera. Digital SLR's are still very expensive, and the technology keeps advancing. So I decided I would buy a small, relatively inexpensive "superzoom" camera instead, and wait for a ...

Finally .. I found a camera I love !

by   brian_in_ny ,  Jan 22, 2007
Pros: Solid hold when taking picture .. Crispness, Stabilization, Zoom, even Movies are super
Cons: After four weeks and 100+ photos, no negatives, though do adjust color effect to "warm"
The Bottom Line: 10x optical zoom outstanding, and movie function surprisingly useful - Stabilization is key. Larger than tiny cameras, but still quite portable. Plus feels more comfortably solid while taking pictures.
Review: This is my first update of this review. Knowing the careful and time-consuming studying I did, I want to give up-to-date feedback to others. Prior to purchasing this camera, I was critical and returned my Canon SD640, a nice small camera which I feel ...

Excellent camera - use it all the time

by   born2shop84 ,  May 27, 2008
Pros: great picture quality, multiple settings, easy to use
Cons: no viewfinder
The Bottom Line: Fantastic camera especially for the amount of money paid, I am always thrilled at the results I get with this camera, I would recommend it to everyone, and I do!!!
Review: I've had this camera for almost 2 years and absolutely LOVE it! I love to go to concerts and although this camera has a 10X zoom - it has digital zoom of 4X so I can actually take pictures at 40X zoom, they aren't perfectly clear but when I develop them ...

I highly recommend this large zoom/small size camera

by   tobyray ,  Jul 21, 2006
Pros: Excellent 10X Leica zoom with image stabilizer with lots of features in a smaller camera.
Cons: No viewfinder (but good LCD) and plastic body.
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this camera for it's crystal clear 10X zoom Leica lens w/ image stabilizer. It's loaded with easy to use features and all in a smaller sized camera.
Review: I love this camera. The 10X zoom Leica lens combined with the image stabilizer gives incredibly sharp ,clear, and detailed photographs. You can count hairs on a photo. The big zoom allows you to get real close up from a distance. And when set on "macro ...

Almost perfect for travel

by   paulformisano ,  Dec 5, 2006
Pros: 10X Zoom, Optical Image Stabilization, Leica Optics, Small.
Cons: No manual aperture or shutter controls. No optical viewfinder. Takes time to learn features.
The Bottom Line: This is the camera you should take with you for travel. It has 10X zoom and is small and lightweight enough to carry all day.
Review: I bought my DMC-TZ1 from a local Circuit City for $316 after much research online. I installed a 2GB 133X SD card. It is necessary to get a fast card for video capture, so I got the 133X. At the highest resolution, a 2GB SD gives about 1500 photo ...
