Patrón Añejo vs. Tequila 30-30 Añejo

by   4-1-1 , top reviewer in Restaurants & Gourmet at Epinions.com ,  Mar 26, 2002
Pros: Exotic, rich, flavorful; 100% blue agave tequila.
Cons: Fairly expensive at $50+ per bottle.
The Bottom Line: In the battle of Patrón Añejo vs. Tequila 30-30 Añejo ...I declare both to be winners. Two very interesting and different sipping tequilas.
Review: In honor of my 700th review, I pronounce today Tequila Tuesday, and I shall herewith regale my readers with a short review of two aged -- Añejo -- tequilas:

      Patrón Añejo...

The Best Sipping Tequila Around!

by   jsmorris ,  May 10, 2000
Pros: Great Taste, Beautiful Hand Blown Glass Bottle
Cons: A Little on the Pricey Side
Review: My husband and I enjoy Tequila. It doesn't necessarily have to be great tequila - the cheap stuff can be mixed in a margarita and made palpable with a splash of Triple Sec, etc. We had never heard of a "sipping" tequila until a friend...

A great tequila for us

by   kingje1 ,  Feb 2, 2002
Pros: Wonderful full flavor. Very Unique.
Cons: Not available to the people who make it.
The Bottom Line: It is one of the best Tequila's produced. I have tasted Mexican Tequila from the Licorerias that sell for the Factories in Jalisco, and Patron can rival many of these.
Review: Tequila Patron is one of the best Tequilas that exists. It has one of those flavors that is so unique and so rich that after tasting it, you can't help but always having a bottle handy. It's the tequila that you give your less experienced friends so...

Not for Margaritas.

by   Riken ,  Dec 15, 2000
Pros: Smooth, light, original tequila taste.
Cons: A sore thumb at a kegger.
Review: If you really like the taste of tequila, try Patron. Don't waste this excellent nectar in a margarita. I wouldn't recommend it for shooters either. If you want a margarita or to do shots, buy something a like montezuma or Cuervo. (I have to admit, I like...

Buy It When You Find It!

by   BARONGREY ,  Nov 20, 2000
Pros: Top Grade Super-Premium Tequila, try it straight!
Cons: Check the cork for leakage!
Review: There's absolutely no question: Patron Anejo is the top super-premium Tequila available today! You may enjoy a good Marguerita, and if you feel macho, you may do Tequila Shots (the lemon and salt trick). If you're lucky, you can find Patron Anejo...

Patron still at the top.

by   sweetsooner ,  Jul 25, 2001
Pros: It has a wonderful flavor. One of the best.
Cons: A bit expensive, but not more than one would expect.
The Bottom Line: If you appreciate good tequila, or want to try a good 100% agave for the first time, Patron is a good choice.
Review: Patron Anejo is still at the top of my list of great tequilas. It has a deep, oak like taste, little to no burn, and a lovely aroma. For a good tequila, there's not too many that top Patron. It's great to sip, and if you want a great margarita (not one...

Best Sipping Tequila I've Ever Had

by   sniper911 ,  Oct 6, 2000
Pros: smooth with a great taste
Cons: none
Review: I love Patron. After sipping on Patron I can never drink another tequila again. One day I went to the store to get some Jose Quervo, when the store owner asked me if I had ever had a premium tequila. I thought that Quervo was a premium tequila. So...

Who is the boss now?

by   lirubis , top reviewer in Restaurants & Gourmet at Epinions.com ,  Nov 5, 2003
Pros: Excellent white oak elements, nice and long cooked agave finish.
Cons: Tastes a lot more "aged" than before. More wood and less agave. Lost smoothness.
The Bottom Line: Very aristocratic, appealing for those who like strong oak accents. Lost smoothness and agave feel, but still a great añejo.
Review: Patrón has always held a privileged spot among U.S. tequilas (it does not sell in Mexico, in case you were wondering), and I vividly remember previous encounters with this añejo as being nice, valuable experiences. Its been over 2 years now that I had not ...

Tequila Patron Reposado

by   anejospirit ,  Apr 10, 2004
Pros: All of the punch with none of the bite
Cons: Young reposado, could have more aromas and more balance.
The Bottom Line: It is a young reposado probably no more than 4 months, it has the strong cooked agave in it with mild vanilla and caramel which take much of the bite.
Review: If you are one who thinks tequila is too peppery for your palate you owe it to yourself to try some real sipping tequila. I first tried Patron many years ago, while it was one of the only premium tequilas available in America and probably one of the ...

To taste a great tequila

by   pichis ,  Jul 5, 2000
Pros: The actual tequila
Cons: The marketing, women also drink tequila
Review: Patron considered one of the best tequilas around together with other great ones like Casa Noble, Porfidio, Chinaco and Tesoro de don Felipe. This tequila would be one of my first choices to buy for a special occasion or if I am drinking alone. I would...
