Excellent Space Heater

by   mkoso ,  Dec 3, 2001
Pros: Excellent thermostat control, small, quiet, efficient.
Cons: none
The Bottom Line: While it may cost a little more than some other space heaters, the quality and construction make it worth it.
Review: After reviewing a number of space heaters on epinions, I decided to try a Pelonis due to the good things I have read and, their reputation.
When you first look at the unit, you notice its diminutive size. It's approx. an 8" cube and, you wonder...

Don't leave unattended

by   teamtempest ,  Nov 19, 2003
Pros: small; light; high throughput fan; easy to point where you want it
Cons: cord gets very hot
The Bottom Line: Useful for limited space heating for a limited time, but because of the hot cord issue I wouldn't use it unattended, in a sleeping area or for extremely long periods.
Review: I do light maintenance work on my vehicles, and in Minnesota in winter it's nice to have a little heat in my garage while I do so. If I often spent hours at a time working on them I'd probably invest in an expensive heater specifically designed to heat ...

Manual Fan Speed Override Please!

by   dongeeL ,  Nov 11, 2000
Pros: Heating Efficiency, Portability
Cons: Fan Noise at High Setting that cannot be overridden
Review: Our family of 3 always disagrees what our room temperature should be. My son and I like it cool, whereas my wife prefers warmer temperature. However, her body temperature rises quickly as she starts her housework, and then what was once comfortable...

Diminutive workhorse: small size, big heat, big noise.

by   aidansonoda ,  Dec 26, 2007
Pros: easy to set up anywhere, impressive heat output.
Cons: noisy, filter clogs easily
Review: I've had this heater for years (perhaps 5). It appeared in my parents basement one day already dented and scratched, so I started using it to heat my workbench. It puts out plenty of heat, noticeably more than other 1500W units I've encountered. ...

Pelonis Ceramic Utility Heater; This 9" Tall Heater Was a Hot Item, "Not No More"

by   popsrocks ,  Dec 18, 2007
Pros: Puts out heat fast
Cons: it broke after two years.
The Bottom Line: I like this heater for the compact size and the incredible amount of heat it puts out. Unfortunately it broke after two seasons.
Review: We had the Pelonis HC-451 Ceramic Utility Heater. I purchased it at our local depot a couple fo years ago. It was full of hot energy, small and efficient. Too bad it said goodbye and broke. It was excellent while it lasted. This is a very small ...

Powerful little heater but never shut off

by   cogmom ,  Jan 1, 2006
Pros: Good reputation
Cons: Heat never shut off on our model, customer service not helpful
The Bottom Line: This heater is compact and sturdy. If it worked as advertised, it would be great, but ours did not and the Pelonis customer service was not helpful.
Review: I purchased a Pelonis Disc Furnace Model HC-451 in September (via Ace Hardware on line) after extensively researching online and reading product reviews. I chose it because of its compact size (about 9 inches square), the fact that the company only ...

Scary!

by   hbrod ,  Feb 9, 2007
Pros: It heated effectively when it was still working.
Cons: The unit started to burn.
Review: We bought this in 2004 for a guest room which has no heat, and have only needed to use it occasionally since then. Yesterday our guest said he had had it on for 4 hours in the early morning and noticed an electrical burning smell. He looked at the ...

Not working correctly

by   wedrons ,  Oct 5, 2006
Pros: Compact size & quiet operation.
Cons: Continues to run on low heat 24/7 even when temperature is attained, negating advertised efficiency.
Review: Have the HC-451 and older top model HC-461. The older model is series 0407 and is a great area heater. I obtained two more heaters from the direct distribution point in Texas. When units came (series 0607), I discovered that the heat would not shut off. ...
