Is that a camera?

by   erick ,  Jun 3, 2003
Pros: Size, 3x Optical Zoom, 3.2MP... did I say size?
Cons: How battery is charged and location of shutter and on/off buttons
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this camera if you are looking for the smallest one with the most features. It's the perfect camera you can take anywhere without skimping on picture quality.
Review: I've been looking for a small digital camera for quite a while now. My first (and only other) digital camera was this huge AGFA 640x480 camera that ate up AA batteries even when I wasn't using it. Comparing the Pentax Optio-S to it is like comparing...

Great compromise in size, gadgetry, image quality & cost.

by   abookas ,  Oct 3, 2003
Pros: Extremely small & lightweight - Intuitive user interface & button layout - Fair picture quality
Cons: There are other cameras with better performance in regard to image quality, battery life, etc.
The Bottom Line: A great camera, small and light enough to always take along. Has a few minor flaws, but holding it in your hands, you'll forget about them and be totally awed!
Review: I got my Optio S two-and-a-half months ago and I'm extremely satisfied with it so far. Previous cameras of mine include the Fujifilm Finepix 40i as well as older Fujifilm models (e.g. MX-700). Criteria There are about just as many different digital ...

Portability worth the compromises

by   philco ,  Jun 8, 2003
Pros: Fantastic balance of portability, photo quality, battery life and capacity (with 256 MB SD card)
Cons: Shot to shot time; initially awkward controls
The Bottom Line: The Optio S is a portable digital camera that you can (and will) always take with you
Review: I am a snapshot photographer and not a serious enthusiast or professional. My first digital camera was a 2MP Toshiba PDR-M5 that I bought in 1998. I found that I loved the digital format. However, as the technology developed, I found myself wanting...

The Wow Factor

by   sg007 ,  Jul 2, 2003
Pros: Take Anywhere Size with full features
Cons: Small buttons take some getting used to, no case included
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a super small camera to take everywhere with you, and doesn't compromise on features, then look no further, this camera is unbelievable.

Quality Camera in Tiny Package

by   wptitus ,  Apr 10, 2003
Pros: quality in a tiny package, looks, ease of use
Cons: 'on/off' button might be confused with shutter release button, battery compartment hinge seems flimsy
The Bottom Line: The set of keys in my right pocket is probably heavier that the quality 3.2 megapixel camera in my left pocket - that's why I bought it!
Review: I've owned this tiny camera for less than a week and have bonded quickly. Potential photographs are where you find them, often at unexpected moments. It is great to have a quality 3.2 megapixel camera in a leather over-size business card case (bought...

If you want to take pix

by   BruinChiq ,  May 4, 2003
Pros: size, "cool" factor, lcd
Cons: none yet
The Bottom Line: BUY IT unless you have a huge HD that you want to waste space on...then get an Elph.
Review: This camera is perfect for the person who wants to use a digital camera for its perfect use: taking lots of pictures everywhere. I can carry it in my altoids box or in it's soft case, and it's perfect. I can have it around my neck for quick use. It can...

"State of the Art "

by   erie_guy ,  Apr 9, 2003
Pros: Size & weight are astounding. Has most "big camera" features at affordable prices.
Cons: Wrist strap is too large for camera. Soft pouch is tight. NONE YET
The Bottom Line: Buy it, you will not be disappointed - and perhaps you could let your wife, and kids, use it too. (if they find where you hid it)
Review: After much review of small digital cameras, I made the plunge and purchased the Optio S. The camera store price was not much more than mail order and they assisted in showing the many features this subcompact camera contains. I guess I was intrigued by...

Impressed with Optio S

by   rpoe ,  Apr 2, 2003
Pros: Ultra-compact, stunning picture quality, loaded with features
Cons: small toggle switch easy to activate wrong function
The Bottom Line: If small size and stealth, with a load of features, is what you want, this is it.
Review: Have had the Optio S for 2 weeks, shooting both indoors and outdoors with various settings. Compared this camera with Minolta Dimage Xi. This camera has more features, is smaller and lighter, and about the same price. Picture quality at best...

great go anywhere digital camera

by   fernguy ,  Oct 14, 2003
Pros: Easy to use, good picture taker in a package too convenient to leave behind.
Cons: Lightweight, compact battery provides good but not great number of pictures.
Review: Despite the diminutive size and light weight, the Pentax Optio S is big on features, durability, easy to use and produces good images. Bought the camera for my wife who was loath to carry even a compact 35mm point and shoot. Both of us enjoy carrying an ...
