Pros: Unique story line,Lavish sets, Sublime acting, thought provoking moral dilemmas
Cons: Some gruesome scenes. Some nudity, may not be for all audience.
The Bottom Line:
The essence of this films uniqueness will remain for later generations. Not just a film this is a story telling experience. Review: The beginning grips you with the daring still frame of a shadowed figure. As the figure leans forward, his nose alone is caught in a downpour of light. With only his nose lit and face in charcoal of shadow, he sniffs ...

Pros: acting, direction, fearlessness
Cons: Rachel Hurd-Wood is young for her part, title !!!
The Bottom Line: Perfume is not for everyone and some people will complain that it isn't quite like the book in some places, but I thought it was terrific.
Review: Perfume : The Story of a Murderer is based on Das Parfum, the critically acclaimed novel by German writer Patrick Suskind. Director Tom Tykwer can be commended for his courage, as I have heard so many say that this story is impossible to film. And yet ...

Pros: Cinematography, Screenplay, Acting, Musical Score... Basically, everything
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: Bottom line: Read the review and go see the movie (not necessarily in that order).
Review: Okay, I often find myself stumbling - one way or the other - across some pretty bizarre films... no, let me be honest... I usually chase after these horrific, muddled messes of cinematic garbage! Imagine how shocked I was when, while soaking up free ...

Pros: Visually stunning movie, photography is fantastic, good music, decent acting
Cons: Some parts of the movie drags on meaninglessly, narration can be redundant at times
The Bottom Line: A visually arresting movie that managed to capture the soul of of the story.
Review: Perfume is movie based on a novel by Patrick Süskind. I read that it was German production, with an English cast (except Dustin Hoffman) and the location of the story is in France. Based on that info - I bought a ticket.. The story is about a ...

Pros: Acting, cinematography and "look" of the film, script, first-half pacing, "legend" feel
Cons: Questionable 3rd Act
The Bottom Line: "Perfume" is a legend, a dark fairy tale from hell. Visually, the film is breathtaking and horrible and finds tragic beauty in life's darkest moments.
Review: It was probably close to a year ago that a friend of mine told me about a little film called "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer" over lunch at a Mexican spot one day. Not exactly your typical meal time chat, but he was a fan of the book and was ...

Pros: Rich and lavish, full of energy. Gorgeous to look at.
Cons: Slow at certain intervals. Dustin Hoffman doesn't seem to get into his role.
The Bottom Line: Gorgeous and bold. Forces you to think, but it isn't stuffy.
Review: It's a rare treat....... a film that is exhilarating and high brow at the same time. It's very rare, but Tom Tykwer's "Perfume" has achieved this feat. The last shot of the film is one of those moments that is dripping in symbolism. It's one of ...

Pros: you will watch a Süskind story
Cons: shadowed by the greatness of the novel, ones read novel previously could be disappointed
The Bottom Line: Finally you must see this movie for its cinematographic value, for the story and the performance of Dustin Hoffman
Review: The cinema adaptation of one of the greatest German author Patrick Süskind 's impressive novel Das Parfum. It's very difficult for me to free from prejudices as I think (like Stanley Kubrick did- a genious film director and also did great adaptions ...

Pros: Great sets and costumes
Cons: It's mostly just a lame serial killer story
The Bottom Line: It's about a killer who sniffs his victims before killing them. Do you really want to see that?
Review: When I first saw the trailer for Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, it looked so decidedly odd that I knew I must see it. Within a week, I rented a copy and sat down one evening to watch it. When the movie was over, I had to sit and ponder whether ...
