Overall the best compact camera on the market

by   moxiemoney ,  Jul 29, 2005
Pros: Small size, outstanding picture quality, great battery life w/ NIMH batteries, great build quality
Cons: EXTREMELY Slow flash cycle
The Bottom Line: Buy it! Best picture/build quality and overall features of any compact camera on the market, especially for the price. Outperforms most larger and more expensive cameras.
Review: First, let me qualify myself as a power "consumer" user. My picture taking consists mostly of my kids and family members at various events (sports, camping, etc..). I take thousands of pictures per month, and I have had many digital cameras, and ...

"Digital Camera of the Year"

by   AtlantaGreg ,  May 24, 2005
Pros: Overall good build. Excellent features and image quality for the price.
Cons: Battery compartment door a little wobbly. Hand grip a bit cramped.
The Bottom Line: For $199.00 this little camera comes close to professional quality, and will make an excellent choice from beginner to advanced user looking for a second backup camera.
Review: INTRO: A while back, Canon started their "A" series of cameras, and from day one they've been very popular. They are small but not so small they're hard to hold, feature rich yet can be operated in full auto mode, and take usually take excellent ...

Very Good Camera

by   artuvega ,  Apr 11, 2005
Pros: Sharp pictures, good focusing, nice features.
Cons: The flash cycle time can be about 5 seconds.
The Bottom Line: This camera will satisfy most picture takes because of the image quality and features. Its main limitation is for scenarios where a fast cycle time is necessary.
Review: I have own several digital cameras, including several of the Canons. My first Canon was the A50 (1.3MP), nice camera but not fully satisfying. Later on I had an A40, much better pictures although it had a focusing problem they later one fixed ...

A very nice new camera from Canon

by   shiraus ,  Apr 3, 2005
Pros: Size, big LCD screen, uses small SD cards, lightweight
Cons: Sometimes the flash can be a bit too powerful
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a nice, lightweight camera that takes excellent pictures, consider the Canon Powershot A510.
Review: Canon came up with this new camera in late-February 2005. We got ours about a week after. This is an updated version of the Powershot A70/75. The first thing you'll notice is the new, updated look. The A510 has a very nice modern design, and it ...

Canon A510 first try

by   shishdim ,  Apr 20, 2005
Pros: small, light, uses just 2 AA batteries, quick to set on and set off
Cons: can not download pics w/o the sofware, a bit narrow view
The Bottom Line: I am still figuring it out, but I guess what I wrote could be of some use.
Review: This is my 3d digital camera and the 1st one I bought new ($184 including shipping). My 1st one was Olympus D380 (refurbished.) That what a great start and I liked it a lot, but I felt it did no do a good job in low light. Then I decided to buy something ...

Want a simple digital camera that really works? This is it.

by   tad29 ,  Jul 25, 2005
Pros: Does everything a point-and-shoot should, with extra manual features, good images, and low price.
Cons: Honestly, I haven't found any. This camera completely fills my expectations.
The Bottom Line: If you want a point-and-shoot camera you can trust, carry, and occasionally experiment with, this is it!
Review: I'm not going to give you a super-detailed review of this camera because lots of people have already done that. I'm going to write a testimonial. I love this little camera! Cameras have always been a passing interest for me. They're fun, and the ...

The Little Camera That Can!

by   mschmalf ,  Apr 19, 2005
Pros: Should satisfy everyone short of professional photographers.
Cons: None for me. Recycle time on flash pictures may bother some people.
The Bottom Line: Great camera for all but professional needs. Get good batteries, lots of memory and get snapping!
Review: I bought this camera in early March so I could snap some nice pics while out on the motorcycle I also reviewed here. The basic specs for this camera are readily available on the Canon website. The main reason I chose this unit was the 4x optical zoom ...

Pros: Small and light High quality images Excellent battery life Perfect for travel
Cons: poor 16mb card it comes with sometimes slow flash recycle
The Bottom Line: A good little camera with a stack of features. This camera will do an awesome job even if you only use the point and shoot function. Its a keeper.

by   nathangr ,  Sep 28, 2005
Pros: handy, elegant, precise, easy to use, powerful. pictures are really good.
Cons: Does not fit in small shirt pockets. Time gap between two shots is sometimes irritating.
The Bottom Line: recommend to new comers to digital photography who takes photography seriously. Camera is simple to use for a beginner with many manual feature looked by a serious hobbyist.
Review: Canon PowerShot A510 is a good camera worth the price. I was using an ordinary film camera for the last many years and I got interested in digital photography recently. My search for a reasonably priced, first time user digital camera continued for ...
