Quiet and moody but powerful all the same

Pros: An album-long mood lets the listener relax and truly take in the lyrics.
Cons: Not the rock n' roll, gritty sound that REM has played in the past.
The Bottom Line: This album shows that REM doesn't have to stick to guitar riffs and electronic accents to bring a point across. Deep lyrics and a calming mood prove just as powerful.
