Ron Zacapa

by   bikercoach ,  May 31, 2007
Pros: Best tasting rum I've ever happened upon.
Cons: Not widely available. Haven't even seen the Ron Zacapa Centenario Commerativo since I left Guatemala.
The Bottom Line: Surprisingly good. A rum one can enjoy as much as a fine single malt scotch.
Review: I'm a scotch drinker, single malt when I can afford it. Didn't think of rum as anything more than a liquid panty remover, that is, until I had my first taste of Centenario. Was in Guatemala and bought a bottle of 23 year old and one of Ron Zacapa ...

Pros: Presentation, price, quality
Cons: Hard to find
The Bottom Line: A must have in your Private Bar
Review: A couple of years ago, a guatemalan friend of mine, brought a bottle of Zacapa Centenario from the Duty Free.

We had a couple of drinks of this very smooth oak barrel aged rum.

Cons: Expensive in the States compared to in Guatemala
Review: I tried this rum when I was in Guatemala in 2001. It is the best rum I have ever had. When I first smelled it I was thinking "man this stuff smells strong." But when I tasted it I was surprised at how smooth it is. I picked up a bottle for around $18 US. ...

Best Rum!!!

by   traveler502 ,  Jun 11, 2006
Pros: Very enjoyable from start to finish
Cons: Nothing
Review: This rum's dark brown amber color sets the tone for an exciting drinking experience. Well-rounded oak aroma speaks of aging and refinement. In the palate, layer upon layer of flavors including nutmeg, toasted hazelnut and a hint of caramel. Smooth ...

Guatemala´s best kept secret.

by   lirubis , top reviewer in Restaurants & Gourmet at Epinions.com ,  Jul 1, 2003
Pros: Succulent butterscotch and hazelnut notes, rich and potent.
Cons: Charcoaly and uneven wood accents
The Bottom Line: Versatile and willing to please. Very nice flavor structure with unusual hazelnut and pumpkin overnotes.
