The King Kong of LCD Monitors

by   Rufster ,  Jun 12, 2007
Pros: Huge. Beautiful Display. Excellent Response Time & Contrast Ratio. MagicBright and MagicColor!
Cons: Quirky Menu System. Annoying Bright Blue Power-On Light. Minor Backlight Bleeding.
The Bottom Line: The muscle for a gamer as well as the space for a stock trader. With outstanding specifications and a reasonable price tag, you just can't beat the Samsung 226BW.
Review: When searching for the right LCD monitor, there’s a variety of specifications to consider – everything from contrast ratio to response time. You also have to sift through a variety of brands, sizes, and interfaces which can cause quite a headache ...

what a step up

by   achaffee ,  Dec 2, 2007
Pros: Sleek design, wide-screen
Cons: Shows dust
The Bottom Line: Overall, this monitor combines a great set of features--size, response time, design--that makes it worth the money.
Review: Going from an old 17 inch CRT to this monitor is quite a step up. This monitor is sleek in design. Easy to use on-screen display. Buttons are nicely tucked away under the monitor so the the only unsightly button is the power button which glows blue. ...

by   tjtoolmanz ,  Nov 20, 2007
Pros: Incredible Picture, Bright, Light
Cons: None - a little more pricey than some..
Review: Not sure what the other guy was going on about I have had the monitor for a few weeks now and it is by far the nicest panel I have ever used. Incredibly sharp and bright picture, great for games, movies, and spreadsheets are a dream. I really can't ...

A model “A” long time user review for this great gaming monitor

by   texas-swede ,  Nov 20, 2008
Pros: 2ms response time, 3-year warranty, perfect for game playing
Cons: The A, S, and C issue
The Bottom Line: We have not had any issues with this monitor after more than one year. The high quality fast graphics (2ms response time) makes it great for game playing.
Review: When my kids hit my sons (then 10-years old) laptop screen with a lacrosse stick for the second time, Comp USA would not replace it again. To replace the screen was $700, so I decided to buy him a nice monitor instead. I ended up buying the black Samsung ...

Huge Monitor That Looks Too Good

by   erwin1978 ,  Aug 3, 2007
Pros: huge, vibrant screen and three years warranty
Cons: color banding and one bad pixel
The Bottom Line: It's got big bright screen and sleek design. With three years warranty you can't go wrong. It's a well respected brand.
Review: I wanted to get a monitor wide enough to display two web browsers side-by-side. I surf a lot and this solution is very efficient deskspace-wise and power-wise as opposed to running two monitors. A 22" widescreen monitor was the sweet spot at around $300. ...

Great monitor. Software doesn't work

by   jdproconsumer ,  Oct 27, 2007
Pros: Great picture. Ultra-fast response rate.
Cons: MagicTune calibration/control software doesn't work. Annoying bright LED.
The Bottom Line: I don't believe there is a better 22" monitor for gaming on the market today. But the MagicTune software doesn't work on my computer.
Review: I was looking to replace a three year old 19" Dell UltraSharp LCD monitor, which was for a very long time the best rated LCD on the market. I believe it was made for Dell by Samsung. I like to play computer games from time to time, and I came to hate ...

Good for the price (in spite of quality variances)

by   rhairless ,  Oct 9, 2007
Pros: Good looking case, Sweet picture - after lengthy configuration trial and error.
Cons: inconsistent quality, backlight bleeding, bad default settings, washed out/overbright, horizontal viewing angle.
The Bottom Line: Whether it's a Samsung screen or not they still back it well. If you can handle any potential issues and experiment with adjustments, you might like it too.
Review: RMA Update: After 10 days Samsung sent a replacement, IT WAS DEFECTIVE! There were two vertical white lines were on the right of the screen and the backlight bleed was bad too. After 1 hour on the phone with dim whits and then waiting in the cue for a ...

Boycott Samsung! Don't gamble on the 226BW 22" LCD Monitor!

by   phungus ,  Sep 3, 2007
Pros: Good luck!
Cons: There ought to be a lawsuit for this!
The Bottom Line: What Samsung did with this monitor amounts to false advertising. Don't waste your money!
Review: Buying this monitor is like buying a pack of baseball cards, because you don’t know what’s inside until you open it up. Keep reading and you’ll see what I mean. I recently purchased a new HP desktop PC and needed a monitor to go along with ...
