Show Your Bones by Yeah Yeah Yeahs

by   combatrock ,  Jan 5, 2008
Pros: Extrodinarly fun and unique.
Cons: Did not include Deja Vu.
Review: Show Your Bones by Yeah Yeah Yeahs was the best album of 2006. The sophomore album for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, this was absolutely amazing. Not as punk rock as Fever to Tell was, but still had a lot of rock and edge. The lyrics, guitars, and ...

Karen O, Medicine Woman: The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Show Your Bones

by   plorentz , top reviewer in Music at Epinions.com ,  Mar 29, 2006
Pros: Karen O is equal parts sorceress, fertility idol, and benevolent dictator
Cons: It's all so immediate... will I care a year from now?
The Bottom Line: In which the author plays the part of National Geographic documentarian stumbling upon a complex society of not-so-ancient neo-post-punks.
Review: For the artwork of their latest album, Show Your Bones, the neo-post-punk (I may be making this up) trio the Yeah Yeah Yeahs charged fans with making flags for the band; and the varied results of this challenge grace not just the ...

A moon without the (hype) tide

by   duende6 ,  Apr 5, 2006
Pros: Strong songwriting from start to finish; Confident delivery throughout the album's 39 minutes.
Cons: Zinner's guitar work rarely impresses; Maturity and restrain may be seen as lacking in energy.
The Bottom Line: A strong sophomore album that concentrates more on songcraft rather than explosive delivery: if you were expecting the latter, the album's catchiness may not win you over.
Review: The Yeah Yeah Yeah's are one of those bands that I've quietly kept in the back of my mind: their first LP, Fever to Tell, was an energetic and exciting affair, showing promise, but, ultimately, it's inconsistency wasn't enough for me ...

send in your flags

by   seric26 ,  Aug 11, 2006
Pros: short, varied, hook-laden tracks; old school album-length, not bloated like so many cds
Cons: an ongoing evolution towards pop that will turn off some older fans
The Bottom Line: This is my favorite album purchase in the last five months.
Review: I think there's one reason for the mixed reviews of this effort. And that reason is the hit song "Maps." If you loved "Maps," the best rock ballad of 2004, and discovered Karen O and her band by way of the way cool video, you're going to ...

Yeah, listen to Show Your Bone by Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

by   smashlee ,  Dec 8, 2007
Pros: Great upbeat but relaxed music with fun lyrics. Unique and fun to listen to.
Cons: Can't listen to too many of the songs in a row.
The Bottom Line: I recommend Show Your Bones by Yeah Yeah Yeahs because it has good rhythms and tunes, fun words, and different sound unique female singer.
Review: While listening to the radio a while back I kept hearing a song called Gold Lion by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It wasn’t quite like anything I had really heard before, but I liked it. I got online to find out who they were and hear what their other stuff was ...

You Can Keep Your Black Tongue

by   alexis69 ,  Apr 22, 2006
Pros: Wonderful drumming, singing, guitar playing. Immensely catchy pop sound.
Cons: none.
The Bottom Line: Some may not like it because it isn't Fever to Tell, but it's still a wonderful album that should be owned.
Review: When the YYY's first came to prominence way back in 2004, I remember reading an interview with Karen O where she said she wanted to write more mellow love songs. So, unlike many, I'm really not that surprised by the artistic turn on Show Your Bones. ...

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs show their resounding averageness on their disjointed sophomore

by   blackstar40 ,  Mar 28, 2006
Pros: Provocative, unshined, catchy, albeit inconsistent marvels along the way
Cons: Raucous, God-annoying filler most of the time
The Bottom Line: Although it has it's moments, through and through, a primarily disinteresting follow-up most of the time.
Review: I honestly don’t know about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I’m a newcomer to their folk / indie / pop-rock crossover hybrid. I have no knowledge of their acclaimed EP or their massive debut Fever to Tell from three years ago. In that sense, I’m ...

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Show Your Bones

by   updateghost ,  Mar 30, 2006
Pros: Three outstanding tracks.
Cons: Doesn't live up to its incredible potential. Great songwriting----iffy performance.
The Bottom Line: is the biggest YYYs fan on epinions. BEAT THAT, YO!
Review: Often, when a band creates an intensely popular album that is lauded by critics and fans alike, the next step is a conundrum. Sometimes, they deconstruct and rebuild with something brilliant, such as Radiohead's K id A. ...
