A Sony radio you can afford in any economy

by   smoke11 ,  Nov 15, 2008
Pros: A timeless classic that delivers a solid, clear sound.
Cons: There are none at this price
The Bottom Line: This AM/FM pocket radio delivers a clear sound, is easy to tune, and has a long battery life. You'll love it for its design and solid feel.
Review: This Sony ICF-S10MK2 Pocket AM/FM Radio looks very retro. I was surprised to discover it. It has a time warp appeal to it. I was in a Sears looking for a small travel radio, nothing too expensive, just something to listen to quietly in the background ...

Finally, a good pocket radio!

by   Carlyle_NY ,  Aug 21, 2003
Pros: A great value
Cons: At this price, nothing
The Bottom Line: An excellent buy. One of the few decent pocket radios being made today.
Review: You know you’re becoming an old fart when increasingly you don’t watch television, haven’t listened to a Led Zeppelin record (excuse me, CD) in ten years, and prefer almost above all things to sit in a chair, turn on the radio, and listen for ...

Amazingly Good! Great reception, bargain price!

by   unclestu ,  Jan 20, 2004
Pros: Price, performance, size, convenience, simplicity, sound; easy, fun!
Cons: Headphones need mono adapter, can overdrive speaker, no tone control, MaxAM less than 1700KHz.
The Bottom Line: Great radio, great gift for anyone from 5 to 95. Excellent performance in a small, simple, inexpensive package. A real bang-for-the buck champion!
Review: My little radio arrived from SonyStyle today. Keep in mind that it cost less than $11 shipped to my door. Installed batteries & was in business- no need to read long complicated manuals for this radio! FM reception is amazing, even plays well with the ...

Great looking tiny radio which can give you the local flavor

by   moorihydrose ,  Jul 30, 2004
Pros: Nice looking, great sound, cool reception.
Cons: NO cons at this price!
Review: This cool looking little wonder is indeed a piece of marvel.. it tunes well in the FM and is crisp and clear in sound output making it a favorite for one-man lonely listening. For AM also the reception is great. Since I mostly listen to music on FM, this ...

Awesome portable for the price

by   martesque ,  Apr 26, 2004
Pros: Nice looking radio with excellent reception and sound for a pocket-size radio.
Cons: Stops at 1610 kHz on AM. Silver paint wears off around controls easily.
Review: Here is a transistor radio that harkens back to great age of the transistor radio with an added bonus. The bonus is that unlike every pocket transistor radio that has featured both AM and FM, BOTH AM and FM have above average reception capability. The ...

Very Good Value

by   demarcoc ,  Sep 29, 2004
Pros: Very good reception and audio; very low price (about $10).
Cons: Not the easiest radio to tune.
Review: I picked up two of these at Sears the other day on the strength of the other reviews I saw here. As others have said, the performance of this little radio is amazing given its price ($9.99 at my local Sears). I've purchased several very cheap pocket ...

Good, cheap radio fun

by   mikeak ,  Feb 15, 2005
Pros: Very inexpensive, decent reception, long battery life
Cons: pocket radio type sound
The Bottom Line: Nice little portable at a very cheap price
Review: “Where have all of the pocket radios gone…long time passing”. On some recent trips to our local Mart stores (of the K and W variety) as well as T store (Target) I took a side trip to the electronics area to check out what was new in personal audio. ...

I've seen better AM reception on cheaper sets...

by   t-r-a ,  May 31, 2005
Pros: Good FM Reception
Cons: Really lousy AM reception
Review: I've got many portables to compare with. Maybe my Sony is defective, but there's a definite "whistle/whine" noise all through the AM band (even when it's nowhere near other ...

Don't waste the $10.00

by   radio-guy ,  Sep 2, 2005
Pros: Small size, easy to operate (although you won't want to), and decent looks.
Cons: It's a useless piece of junk, and a total waste of money.
Review: After reading all the good reviews, I figured I had to get one. Decent AM performance has been ignored by the manufacturers for too many decades. Well this radio doesn't even qualify as junk. I could get more stations, and much clearer on that little ...
