When Music Matters, Trust Sony’s Water Resistant MDR-A30G’s To Deliver Exceptional Sound

by   Freak369 ,  Jul 9, 2005
Pros: Compact design, water resistant, great sound, one year warranty, inexpensive.
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: Looking for a great pair of headphones for the gym or working out? These will fare better than others but don’t mistake “water resistant” for “water proof”.
Review: Music is something that truly means a lot to me. If I am cleaning, cooking, running or just relaxing, some form of music is on - if for nothing more than background noise. When it comes to headphones I am hard on them, an average pair lasts me ...

Flexible and convenient headphones for active use

by   Jaharmi ,  Jun 17, 2006
Pros: Vertical in-ear design for active use, 3-point folding headband, convenience, sound quality for voice, attractive
Cons: Still require a cable, can get a bit heavy after longer use, durability
The Bottom Line: These are a great style for active use. The sound quality is good enough for podcasts and active use, but the durability is lacking.
Review: I bought a pair of Sony MDR-A35 headphones because I wanted the vertical in-ear folding design. They were the only headphones I came across in my retail search -- I was on a mission, I guess -- that had that design and didn't look horrible. I purchased ...

If You Only Need A Beat

by   customeright ,  Apr 8, 2007
Pros: Tight fitting, light, acceptable bass tones.
Cons: Mid and high range limited, pronounced wind noise, cheap feel.
The Bottom Line: An partial solution for budget-conscious, non-musically picky joggers. These headphones hold to your head, and keep the sweat away. But don't expect great sound, just a good beat.
Review: I like to run. Well, I like to jog. I definitely wouldn't win races. I love running outside, in nature, on my own. If the weather's nice, it's great; peaceful, relaxing, quiet and serene. And by quiet and serene, I mean slightly less loud if I'm ...

Clean Out Your Ears

by   zero_ ,  Jan 23, 2007
Pros: Light and tend to stay affixed to your dome with pleasing tenacity.
Cons: Miserable audio performance with the usual Sony price tag.
The Bottom Line: Less like headphones; More like listening through mud.
Review: (Update.) Snap! My headphones finally displayed the same propensity for flimsiness as the rest of the reviewers' examples. They broke exactly where I predicted they would, at the grey ratchety thing that adjusts the size of the headband. I ...

BREAK-APART HEADPHONES

by   digby67 ,  Nov 17, 2006
Pros: Good sound, good fit, collapsable
Cons: They'll break soon purchase...a total waste of money
Review: DON'T BUY THESE HEADPHONES. Sony is now using a light-weight but inflexible plastic that is totally inappropriate for these "sports" headphones. Just as in Alan's previous review, I had a pair of these for years until the dog chewed through the cord ...

Bad Batch?

by   dimmitutto ,  May 11, 2007
Pros: light weight, secure but comfortable fit, good sound
Cons: head band breaks after less than a month rendering the headphones useless
Review: Ì had used SONY MDR-A35 headphones for years. They have generally lasted for at least 6 months of heavy daily use before one ear has gone dead (presumably a broken wire). However, none of my recent replacements have lasted more than one month. In the ...

WARNING- Flawed design WILL BREAK

by   torsion ,  Oct 5, 2006
Pros: In-Ear Vertical design, folding, Good Freq. Response
Cons: Poor quality plastic WILL BREAK easily
Review: Please be warned that these headphones now have a fatal quality flaw that will cause them to break under normal usage. The issue has been discussed extensively here: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR -A35G-Sports-Headphones-Mechan ism/dp/B000067G0J I ...
