Sports Illustrated -- The Magazine

by   three_ster ,  Aug 2, 2001
Pros: non-stop sports, great articles, great pictures, in-depth interviews
Cons: sometimes a little on the thin side.
The Bottom Line: The ideal sports magazine that goes behind the facade and gives you the low-down facts.
Review: I came across Sports Illustrated The Magazine back when I was in elementary school. To be more precise, I first came across it as I was sitting in a doctor's office waiting to be checked up on one of my many mishaps as a child. I was really getting into...

So, why should I care about sports news?

by   HawgWyld ,  Mar 24, 2005
Pros: Insightful, in-depth writing which explains why current sports events are important.
Cons: This only comes out once a week!
The Bottom Line: If you're a sports fan, this is the magazine for you. You'll not find any publication which can better explain why the currents sports news matters.
Review: About five years ago, I wrote an opinion of Sports Illustrated which was -- in retrospect -- idiotic. Sure, I gave the magazine high marks and all, but complained about a some trivial nonsense here and there. Well, I've deleted that opinion ...

An All-Star Lineup - Sports Illustrated Magazine

by   teamfreak16 ,  Jun 17, 2009
Pros: Weekly in-depth sports coverage and behind the scenes reporting
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: Sports Illustrated provides sports fans with top-notch sports reporting.
Review: “Athletes are nothing but a bunch of spoiled, overpaid crybabies!” Those words—or variations of those words—are overheard somewhere in the United States on a daily basis. While they might be at least partially true, let’s ...

Sports Illustrated, still here after all these years!

by   lcoffiejr ,  Feb 18, 2003
Pros: fantastic photography, great covers. pretty decent stories, swimsuit issue
Cons: too much advertisement. They don't seem like experts when they predict winners in professional sports.
The Bottom Line: Sports Illustrated is still one of the great sports magazines out there.
Review: I love Sports Illustrated for their covers, photography, and stories about older players. Great players from the past. They cover the news is sports pretty well too. I'm looking at the February 17, 2003 issue with Michael Jordan on the cover....

Thorough, entertaining sports coverage (despite all the editorializing!)

by   Chad9976 ,  Apr 23, 2001
Pros: excellent photography; detailed sports journalism; good sense of humor; obscure info and stats
Cons: too much golf coverage! News is often opinionated and prejudice (true journalism is unbiased).
The Bottom Line: The best sports magazine in publication today. Although it sometimes shows its age (they still do the swimsuit issue?!) it's still worth the money to subscribe.
Review: When it comes to sports magazines there really is none out there better than Sports Illustrated. I hate to sound like a corporate butt-kisser but it's true. These guys have been putting out a quality publication with the latest sports news, insights,...

Who Wants the Inside Story?

by   flak-attak ,  Feb 9, 2001
Pros: Excellent magazine for the Sports Enthusiast.
Cons: Prices are a bit expensive. (50% price still comes to 81.40 for 55 issues.)
The Bottom Line: I believe this is the best all-around sports magazine on the market. And if you follow sports at all, you will love the coverage provided.
Review: Ever been hungry for Kentucky Fried Chicken and gone halfway across town to get it? Ever wanted a Subway Sandwich and searched far and wide for the "closest" SUBWAY– unable to be tempted any other smell or sight?

If so, then you know how I...

SPORTS ILLUSTRATED STILL DELIVERS

by   mike.holmes ,  Feb 3, 2001
Pros: Excellent sports coverage and photography
Cons: Wish they could do a few more in-depth articles
The Bottom Line: For consistent coverage of the major and some minor sports, Sports Illustrated is still number one.
Review: Sports Illustrated is like an old friend. For 40 years, my friend has arrived in my mailbox with all kinds of sports information from around the world. There are contenders to Sports Illustrated's crown, such as ESPN the magazine and just the...

Up Close And Personal

by   djmaniaci ,  Nov 24, 2001
Pros: Great pictures, Rick Reilly
Cons: Nothing that I could think of
The Bottom Line: Many different topics, out-of-this-world pictures
Review: That's exactly what the photographs are in Sports Illustrated. The section in the front of the magazine each week, Leading Off, has some of the greatest sports pictures ever. They are just breathtaking sights of the past week in sports captured on film...

Sports Illustrated

by   supahonda ,  Feb 16, 2002
Pros: Awesome writing, great photographs, cheap price, swimsuit issue.
Cons: Focus is skewed a bit to much towards football.
The Bottom Line: SI has great writers, exclusive photographs and interviews and is a great magazine for every sports fan.
Review: I have been a subscriber to Sports Illustrated for about two and a half years so far. And I plan to keep my subscription going for quite a while longer. Sports Illustrated brings everything that a hard core sports fan could want, and everything...
