Oot of This World Oot-meal Stoot |
|||
|
Pros: A wonderful example of the style.
Cons: Hard to find.
The Bottom Line: If you can't find this near you, book a plane to Montreal. Now.
Review: How much would you pay for a bottle of beer? For most people, probably not more than a few dollars would be the expected answer. For my part, Im usually willing to go a bit higher (though even I have my limits). Its all a matter of priorities, ...

Barney Flats: It's Boontling for MAY I PLEASE HAVE ANOTHER! |

|
Pros: Soft, smooth, and oh so sweet...
Cons: Not available everywhere
The Bottom Line: In the mood for something softer than velvet, sweeter than chocolate, and darker than both? Look no further than Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout...
Review: Some breweries just seem to have a knack for brewing great beers. Some breweries have a knack for carving a unique niche for themselves. Some have a knack for advertising. Some have a knack for developing local loyalty. And some breweries, seem to have a ...

Oatmeal is no longer just for breakfast. |
|||
|
Pros: Nice sweet, chocolaty, roasted flavors, slight hop, silky smooth mouthfeel.
Cons: It's an excellent beer.
The Bottom Line: Wonderful mix of roasted chocolate and caramel, with dry and slightly hoppy finish. Smooth silky mouthfeel is even more memorable in this excellent example of an old world brewing style.
Review: Oatmeal Stout is a beer style that has become increasingly popular with US microbrewers and British exporters. The idea of adding oatmeal dates back to the English 1800s, when it was fashionable to make beers more nutritious.

|
Pros: Preach the word!
Cons: Silence speaks mountains.
The Bottom Line: Guinness is old and busted. St. Ambroise; the new hotness.
Review: When most people those non-beer geeks in our midst think stout, I'd venture to guess that the image they conjure is one of a tall pint of Guinness, its nitrogen-forced creamy head barely eking out over the top of the glass, and its dark ...

Pros: Rich, thick, bitter, and everything a stout should be. Complex and aesthetically pleasing.
Cons: None that I can think of, unless you don't like stout.
The Bottom Line: A masterpiece. Stout lovers will drool all over this.
Review: Introduction I'm surprised it's taken me so long to try St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout. I like dark beers, I like rich beers, I like thick beers, and I like bitter beers, and St. Ambroise fits all four categories. I bought a six-pack today, from ...

|||
|
Pros: an outstanding oatmeal stout from a great brewery.
Cons: none come to mind
The Bottom Line: Any fan of dark beers and stouts should give this beer a try. It has character, complexity and great taste.
Review: "It's not just shy sluggin'gorms neemer!" That is boontling fro "It's not just for breakfast anymore" That pretty much sums it up. Anderson Valley beers are always highly sought and for good reason. Their reputation for excellence is greatly...

|
Pros: sweet, rich, robust taste; smooth finish; surprisingly light body
Cons: Probably could've been even sweeter; rare and expensive
The Bottom Line: I know I say this a lot, but this really would make a great starter stout and the connoisseur would like it too. It's a win-win!
Review: Some beers are actually better in retrospect than in the moment. Others are great in the moment, but in retrospect you feel you romanticized it too much. However, in the case of St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout, it’s a beer that was equally great in the ...

Pros: Smooth, creamy, hints of chocolate, a great stout.
Cons: Not widely available outside of California.
Review: I first had this beer at a party at a friend of mine's. A good buddy of mine was carrying around a bomber of something I hadn't seen before in my then uneducated beer days. He said, "Hey you have to try this, it is the chocolate milk of beers." Now, ...
