Pros: Utility, reliability, ergonomics, appearance.
Cons: Some interior materials, finest details.
The Bottom Line: This is an excellent AWD car for active people, people who do a lot of outdoors work, or carry medium-sized loads.
Review: I am overall very pleased with my choice of a 2003 Subaru Outback and would recommend it to almost anyone. My wife and I shopped around for over a year looking for a replacement for my inadequate Suzuki Sidekick. We only had a few basic criteria - ...

Pros: Handling, gas mileage, space, suspension, efficiency.
Cons: Could be more powerful.
The Bottom Line: I see at least two of these a day on the streets. I think that says something about Subaru's Outback.
Review: Ok so check it, venturing into the outback anytime soon? How bout the woods, a dirt path into the inspiring depths of the forest? If so, don't forget your buddy and companion: the 2003 Subaru Outback. Commonly rated for backtrack journeys the ...

Pros: Smooth, Torque-Rich H6-3.0 engine, Subaru All Wheel Drive, ride, comfort, Outback is a true bargain!
Cons: Automatic transmission isn't great, stock tires are terrible, stock stereo speakers very poor
The Bottom Line: Unless you need a vehicle that can tow a big load I don't know of anything that is a better value than the Outback.
Review: UPDATE (June 7th, 2005) Hello again all! Well its been almost 2 years and 26,000 miles since I purchased my Outback and things are going great! So far I've had no problems and have followed the standard maintainence schedule in full. The ...

Pros: Nice car. Very reliable. Good to have at least one wagon in the family, too.
Cons: Pricey with the 3 liter.
The Bottom Line: This a nice family wagon. My pick over the A4 and Passat. For extra luxury I recommend the 3.0 liter H6.
Review: We've owned a 1995 Legacy Wagon for 9 years. The wife continues to drive the Legacy. The wagon was functional for mountain bikes at first, then trips to the hardware store (it had room for 12 foot trees and lumber!), and now for kids seats. In that time, ...

Pros: comfortable, luxury interior, great headroom
Cons: needs frequent oil changes and tire rotations
The Bottom Line: this is a great family wagon, huge trunk for storage, upgraded model has a luxurious interior at an affordable price. All Wheel Drive makes driving in bad weather easy.
Review: I recently purchased the Outback LL bean 3 liter model. The interior features are fantastic, from electric seat adjustments, lumbar controls, to seat warmers. The radio had a built in antenna, CD changer. The car runs great and has excellent ...

Pros: Rugged! Seats 5, passenger "cage" for safety, all-wheel-drive, and great gas mileage.
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: An excellent investment in your family's safety with it's reinforced passenger compartment, all-wheel-drive, and dual airbags. Subaru did not compromise safety for comfort, either - it's a sweet ride!
Review: MY PREREQUISITES
A former Volvo wagon owner, I am very interested in vehicle engineering and safety. When I began shopping around for a new car for my family (of 5), safety was at the top of my checklist. Other considerations were seating... |

Pros: Easy to drive, comfortable, decent mileage, excellent snow handling.
Cons: Strains a little up hills with 4 adults plus their ski equipment.
The Bottom Line: Amazingly affordable, stylish, reliable, and comfortable.
Review: Truly you see this car all over the place in the Pacific Northwest, and I sort of wondered why until I test drove it. This car is amazingly comfortable and handles great in the rain and snow. Driving around here can get pretty squirrely: when it rains ...

Subaru Outback Wagon - Best all round value for money
by

|
|||
|
Pros: Fuel economy, traction in winter, resale, comfort, fit & finish
Cons: Auto is low on power/acceleration, turning circle a bit big for a car this size
Review: After reviewing all types of 4WD and AWD, the Subaru kept coming to the top of the list. Initial price is marginally higher than I expected but this is more than offset by the high resale value. Add the quite good fuel economy to that along with Japanes ...
