|
Pros: Strong acting, directing and screenwriting
Cons: A little slow in parts
The Bottom Line: I enjoyed the film and was not bothered by it's supposed "anti-Christian" message
Review: I want to preface this review my stating that I am a Christian. I only mention this because there has been a hue and cry that this movie and Dan Brown's novel were insults to the Christian community, the Catholic church and the Opus Dei society. I ...

Pros: An intensely thought-provoking action-mystery, with an underlay of controversial religious history!
Cons: It's possibly a bit longer and slower than necessary for some viewers.
The Bottom Line: Don't miss this one! The buzz will pass you by---
Review: The cinema adaptation of the blockbuster Dan Brown novel of the same name is a blockbuster movie! Approached by screenplay writer Akiva Goldman and director Ron Howard with a respect bordering on reverence, they have done justice to the novel in ...

Pros: Very believable plot. Remarkable filming locations.
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: An outstanding film that makes you think.
Review: The sets in this move were amazing. I watched this on DVD and the bonus disk "the Making of..." was almost as fascinating as the movie. They are actually one of the only movies ever filmed in the Louvre! The sets are all authentic. The plot, ...

Pros: very intriguing story, Tom Hanks, an involved plot that kept my interest
Cons: none to my eyes
The Bottom Line: This was a very interesting film that was jam packed with historical finds and intriguing sub-plots, all surrounded by great acting.
Review: Spawned from the wildly successful novel, The Da Vinci Code finally made it to the big-screen in part thanks to Director Ron Howard. With the amount of success that the book achieved, it brought along much controversy with the subject-matter that it ...

Pros: An intriguing mystery
Cons: None that I can think of
The Bottom Line: The story is one that has baffled historians for ages. You do not have to have read the book but it helps. And remember, it's fiction!
Review: When I first heard Da Vinci Code was going to be made into a movie I knew it would a film I would have to see...Both hubby and I had read the book and found it truly fascinating
I was caught up in all the hoopla going on about the movie, ...

Pros: Acting, faithful to book
Cons: You just can't put as much in a movie as a book
The Bottom Line: It was an enjoyable movie and a good interpretation of the book.
Review: Years ago, I read a book I loved, The Bonfire of the Vanities. It was interesting and it had great characters. I loved the central character, an investment banker named Sherman McCoy. Then the MOVIE version came, and cast, of all people, Tom ...

Pros: Tightly written script, great historical data; thought-provoking story-line.
Cons: Lack of character development; Hanks and Audrey Tautou lacked chemistry.
The Bottom Line: Anyone with an interest in religious history should enjoy this movie, official criticism aside, as well as those who enjoy a challenge for their brain.
Review: As I stated in my review of the Dan Browns now legendary book The DaVinci Code, I am not a religious man; truth be told I am an agnostic, a man of logic, reason, and a tad too many questions about the whole God thing for most religious folk ...

Pros: Good interpretation of the book, most acting, settings
Cons: Pace, some acting, burden to match a stellar book
The Bottom Line: Highly polarized viewers distract from a well-done movie that has a few flaws as well.
Review: It is amazing how easily people are divided into two opposing camps -- typically by means of ideology or religion. As expected, America shows one more time how polarized it is. Even Europe gets emotional in light of the opening movie at Cannes. Let's not ...

Pros: Tom Hanks, mystery, clues, surprising twists
Cons: Expected more clues to figure out
The Bottom Line: Interesting mystery of a movie with Tom Hanks
Review: Why am I just now seeing the DaVinci Code? Since my daughter was born, I have a horrible time watching any bloody movie of any type. I had heard so much about this movie and assumed it to be on par with the movie The Passion, bloody and filled with gore. ...
