"HILLS" NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART

by   mike.holmes ,  Mar 10, 2006
Pros: Excellent acting, storyline, special effects and makeup
Cons: Could use a few different methods to do away with the enemy
The Bottom Line: If you like excellent strong-core horror, see this one.
Review: I saw no previews for Fox Searchlight's re-make of Wes Craven's 1977 low budget cult film "The Hills Have Eyes." This is usually a bad sign but not as bad as a film that is not shown to critics. It was a critic's review on NPR today that made me want ...

Falling Out?

by   lansky2000 ,  Dec 22, 2006
Pros: Aja and Craven combine to deliver a powerful statement on political excesses of the 50's...
Cons: May be too intense for some audiences...
The Bottom Line: Visually disturbing social commentary on the aftereffects of military excess...
Review: Leave it to a foreign director as an outsider looking in to grab hold of one of our nation's great unresolved issues and turn it inside out during a new era of American self-examination. Alexandre Aja teams up with Wes Craven (running neck and neck with ...

Squeamish Beware....

by   jeanniekerns ,  May 28, 2006
Pros: Actors & Actresses fit well together. Beat the 1977 movie by far.
Cons: The film is great... No cons about it.
The Bottom Line: If you have a choice between the 2006 version or the 1977 one, I would tell you for the first time to take the 2006 version.. Amazing.
Review: Every once in a while, when the stars are aligned and the universe is at one with itself, a remake will out-best the original. Once again, this happens rarely; and, normally, you can bet against such a miracle from occurring. Certain examples I can cite ...

Finally, a remake that doesn't suck!!

by   dylgon ,  Mar 11, 2006
Pros: An action pakced, horrifying, gore fest.
Cons: Slow beginning and could've been scarier. Not for the easily disturbed.
The Bottom Line: A remake that's actually better than the original.
Review: The original Wes Craven version of "The Hills Have Eyes" has never been a favourite of mine, but I thought it was pretty good. However, last years H igh Tension was one of my favourite movies of the year, so when I ...

All In The Mutant Family, The Hills Have Eyes

by   milknchalk ,  Jun 6, 2006
Pros: An intense film that is loyal to the original.
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: The Hills Have Eyes, is a very enjoyable film that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat....Until you fall off.
Review: Some people like to see public displays of affection, peace, and harmony. I like seeing torture, murder, and mutilation. This means a few things. First of all, it usually means that I'm the person that you don't want you're kid growing up to be like. ...

Hills: Not to be viewed by sensitive viewers

by   exoticrose21 ,  Nov 23, 2006
Pros: Very suspenseful and very gorey
Cons: Extremely Gorey
Review: This movie is very graphic and suspenseful. The gore is very realistic. However I would not recommend watching it at night by yourself in the middle of nowhere. Children also should not watch this. However if you love gore and suspense this movie is ...

An awesome horror movie!!!!!

by   tjhooker90 ,  Aug 22, 2006
Pros: extended version!!
Cons: rape scene
Review: This movie was AWESOME!!! I am a huge horror movie fan!! The more disturbing, the better!! The reviews looked great. But I was afraid it was going to be disappointing. Like Hostel was. I was NOT disappointed!! I didn't see the rated version though. ...

The Hills Have Eyes: - "You Made Us What We've Become..."

by   jeremy1456 , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Aug 7, 2006
Pros: Quality Effects and Performances, Functions Well as Both a Remake and a Standalone Horror Film
Cons: Weak Political Commentary
The Bottom Line: Both Fans of the Original and the Un-initiated NEED To Check This One Out!
Review: Horror remakes in recent years have been mostly dreadful. The particularly big offenders include The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and The Fog. If I were to write a book on how to ruin a good horror film, I'd cite them as references. The horror fan inside of ...

Won't Be Taking Any Back Roads!!!

by   kj01976 ,  Aug 28, 2006
Pros: Not what you would like to have happen on your vacation!!
Cons: Deformed cannibals!
The Bottom Line: Since it's not like every other, it was great! See it if you dare!!
Review: I don't know about you, but I find the idea of vacationing in an RV with my in-laws very disturbing in itself. I'm not sure I could do it for any significant amount of time with my immediate family and still call it a vacation. Still, the story ...
