Truley a fitness system

by   toptechreviews ,  Feb 1, 2003
Pros: Affordable. Loaded with features. Accurate heart monitor
Cons: Watch face a little big.
The Bottom Line: You cannot go wrong when you purchase this product. It has all the advanced features for the techy and still remains quite simple to operate.
Review: I received my watch about a year ago and it has been on my wrist every since. You might think that is normal, but I go through watches fast. Previously I could only keep a watch for about 6 months or so. I am a professional firefighter and my job is...

Functional, Affordable, and it looks awesome

by   gpolice ,  Mar 22, 2004
Pros: Memo-Pad, 120-Lap Memory, Regular Watch Features, Bright Indiglo, Flix
Cons: Cycling through the alphabet, memos can only be 24 characters
The Bottom Line: I will reccommend this product to anybody, whether they run or not
Review: Ive had the Timex 100-Lap Triathalon about a year now and it has definetly been the best watch I have ever had. I am not atheletic at all. I just love all the little things you can stick into a watch. Accessibility The buttons are large ...

Finally, an HRM you can eat, drink, sleep, train, and work in.

by   rsenator ,  Jan 28, 2002
Pros: Lapping chrono & HRM in one, user-replaceable batteries, Digital Transmission, and a low price.
Cons: Not the largest of displays (but is still large enough).
The Bottom Line: This is a good looking watch with the intentions of lasting long. A better featured HRM for the money you will not find, period.
Review: The TIMEX 51581 Heart Monitor Ironman.

The only difference between the 51601 and the 51581 is the actual wrist straps on the watch. The 51601 has a cloth strap with velcro to enable it to fasten to the arm. The 51581 has a standard rubber-like...

Gets the job done. Great for the price. Not fancy or perfect, but good.

by   stenz ,  Feb 7, 2004
Pros: Inexpensive, 100 lap Ironman features, can change the battery
Cons: Watch strap is absorbent fabric (sweat will make it smell in time)
The Bottom Line: Inexpensive and easy to use. Won't connect to a computer. Wouldn't recommend using it as a daily watch, only as a workout watch. Not the best, but very good.
Review: Back in '94-'95 I had a very basic Polar HRM unit that only told me my heart rate and that was it. Simple, basic, but did its job very well. With any HRM, it only takes a short amount of time (a few months) before you get adjusted to knowing what ...

Great heart rate monitor.

by   bsambuco ,  May 4, 2003
Pros: Price, Durability, Accuracy.
Cons: Cosmetically inferior to other monitors. Uncomfortable watchband.
The Bottom Line: If your shopping for a quality heart rate monitor, this is a good buy. It won't win any beauty contests, but more importantly, IT WORKS.
Review: The Timex Ironman heart rate monitor is another great product in the Ironman line. The watch is extremely durable, (however, my Indiglo light died within a couple months), and accurate. The watch has all the features you would want, and Timex has...

I would buy it again

by   jplett ,  Sep 1, 2003
Pros: Excellent Value for the money! basic non-techno crap.
Cons: Resin band needs to be replaced with fastrap, resin is uncomfortable
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this watch to anyone who wants a no nonsense HRM
Review: I searched for many weeks before settling on this monitor. I spent a great deal of time determining ...

Triathlon 50772 a reliable sports watch

by   barny_mike ,  Dec 31, 2005
Pros: Easy to read, versatile, durable, good timekeeping and battery life
Cons: wrist strap breaks, printed button writing wears off, day/month wrong way around for Oz
Review: My Triathlon is the 50772 which I paid Au$100 for about 3 years back. It has worked well with no functional problems and is still on the same battery. The writing on the buttons has almost worn off and I am on my 3rd wrist strap, but that aside it ...

Decent HRM for amateur athlete

by   teddypinion ,  Sep 11, 2002
Pros: You can wear the watch alone in public without people looking at you funny
Cons: Functions not as advanced as those on competing products.
The Bottom Line: If you want a basic entry level heart rate monitor, have a look at the Timex. If you are a serious athlete and want really advanced hrm functions, look elsewhere.
Review: When I set out in the market to find a new heart rate monitor, I looked at the various different makes available. Especially those from Polar.

I knew that in addition to a heart monitor, I also wanted a general sports watch, as I only had a...

Never did work right.

by   runfan2000 ,  Feb 7, 2003
Pros: Stopwatch functions
Cons: Electrical - signal transmissions problems
The Bottom Line: Buy Polar. The styling of Timex is cool but the HRM doesn't make the grade.
Review: I hesitated to write a negative review until I tried a Polar HRM for comparison sake. I thought it could be me and my heart. Well it's not me and my heart. The Timex 50 lap HRM is just a crappy HRM.

The Heart rate displayed by the watch...

Don't buy this watch!

by   cwasylishen ,  Jun 22, 2002
Pros: Digital transmission (no interference from other users), good display
Cons: Too many to list, check review below for details.
The Bottom Line: Don't buy this watch... and perhaps Timex will get the picture.
Review: If you are serious about monitoring your heart rate, don't buy this watch. I am almost 100% certain that Timex does not actually manufacture this watch, as I have had great luck in past with Timex watches, but this heart rate monitor is junk!
