Pros: Enthralling, funny, can't put it down book
Cons: Hiaasens books always end too soon
The Bottom Line: If you hate the idea of a timeshare condominum, you will love Carl Hiaasen
Review: Brian Keyes is a great reporter/photographer, but when a story turns out to be about someone he knows, life through the lens has lost it's appeal. Brian turns to a new career as a private detective and is soon caught up in a very strange case indeed....

The Bottom Line: later Hiaasen novels are more fun, but his themes were there in the first one

The Bottom Line: Carl Hiaasen's first novel showed promise of better things to come; read it for historical significance but don't expect great things.
