The Incredible '90 Camry LE

by   tennis_player ,  Nov 1, 1999
Pros: Super reliable, versatile, economical to operate and maintain
Cons: Not a sports car in sheep's clothing - cruise control auto disengages @ 15 mph below set memory
Review: Like David, we bought a used Camry. It has turned out to be just an incredibly reliable and competent vehicle! We bought a '90 Camry LE back in 1995. IT HAD 127K MILES ON IT AT THAT TIME. I only paid $4,700 at that time, low by Blue Book because of...

awesome car!

by   aleroluver ,  Jan 27, 2008
Pros: reliable, great features, solid quality car
Cons: annoying automatic seatbelts, plastic gets brittle over time
The Bottom Line: If you see one of these cars for sale, buy it. It and all its components will work well for a very long time!
Review: Let me preface by saying that this is my first car review. I usually write household product reviews, so if you find that I'm leaving something important out, please let me know! I bought this car in 2003 and had it until 2005. I paid 400 dollars ...

Reliability at it's best

by   dolpal ,  Apr 4, 2000
Pros: Safe, smooth, comfortable
Cons: none
Review: Looking back, I can see why my mom thought I was so "responsible" when I made my first car purchase. I was 19 years old and ready to let go of my old clunker and invest in a new car. My parents were sure I'd go for the little red sports car...

A vehicle ahead of its time

by   nicodemus69 ,  Jan 10, 2004
Pros: Great Overdrive Transmission, Strong Durable Engine, Huge Trunk, Great Front Seat Room, Rally Suspension
Cons: Too many ABUSED base models, Hard to find low miles, Expensive mint with low miles
The Bottom Line: A highly recommended legend that reset the standard and is sadly becoming rare.
Review: I bought my 1990 Toyota Camry LE with 144k miles in 1997 for 4200 dollars. The first thing I noticed about the car was the high power at low rpms that allowed the car to move with ease. The transmission was an absolute beauty and if not for the RPM gauge ...

360k km and still no smoke

by   calmac ,  Mar 19, 2004
Pros: relatively reliable and economical, comfortable ride, solid construction, no quirks, retains value ok.
Cons: nothing really
The Bottom Line: If you need a cheap reliable wagon this is a good choice and should last as long as mine with a little TLC
Review: Australian assembled in 1991. Sold new in new Zealand to a company and purchased by me with 116k km 8 yrs ago, developed water pump leak at 160k, replaced cam belt and other belts and tensioner bearing under the cover at same time,$900! Was using 1 litre ...

That Old Camry

by   csprague ,  Apr 5, 2002
Pros: Toyota reliability, economy
Cons: Slow, poor handling
The Bottom Line: A great economical alternative to buying a newer car, thanks to Toyota's great reliability.
Review: My sister owned this car for about a year. We bought it off a friend for $1500. Sadly she spun it into a guardrail and bent the frame totalling it. Exterior The car is a light gray tan. The paint has held up well for the most part. There is no ...

Happy Little Car

by   reedbw ,  Oct 7, 1999
Pros: Great car for almost anyone
Cons: None - so far
Review: I just recently purchased a used Toyota Camry from its previous owner, and all I can say are good things about this car. Okay, so 1990 is a little old, but it just goes to show that these cars can go forever. The car was well taken care of, and it really...

My baby came back to me.

by   forstneger ,  Jul 3, 2001
Pros: Reliable, gas saver, quick, comfy.
Cons: Highly stolen, rusty.
The Bottom Line: If you buy one, work on the rust and get anti-theft measures. This is a solid investment and probably the most reliable car of its time.
Review: You never think it'll happen to you. I've known that my car (maroon/maroon, 120K miles) was the hottest stolen car in the country for years now, and I used to joke when looking for it in a parking lot that it was good to see it was still there. That...

Older Model Toyota Camary

by   ballard_kathy ,  Jan 16, 2000
Pros: affordable, low maintainance, easy to do minor repairs
Cons: road noise
Review: The Toyota Camary is the car for anyone who wants to pay a reasonable price for a vehicle that will provide great service for years to come. I bought my 1990 Camary when it had about 50,000 miles on it. I've now just turned over 215,000 mile and have...

1987 Toyota Tercel 2-door sedan

by   srb781 ,  Nov 24, 2000
Pros: VERY GOOD GAS MILEAGE
Cons: Interior a little small
Review: I feel that the 1987 Toyota Tercel 2 - door SEDAN is an excellent BUY!!
Not only can one of these models be had at a rather decent price,
but the fuel economy is excellent!! This model....whether a hatchback
or with a trunk.....sports a 4...
