Pros: Hands down the greatest Graphic Novel ever written.
Cons: There are none.
The Bottom Line: This is a classic of literature, not comics, literature. It is one the best things you will ever read.
Review: The Watchmen Written by Alan Moore. Art by Dave Gibbons. Noui consilia et ueteres quaecumque monetis amici, "Pone seram, cohibe". Sed quis custodiet ipsos custodes Cauta est et ab illis incipit uxor "I hear always the ...

Who's Killing The SuperHeroes In Nixon's 1985 America? |

Pros: Brilliant storytelling on every level, believable characters.
Cons: Art is a bit...choppy
The Bottom Line: One of the best works of literature in my home. And I do have more than just comic books, smart guy.
Review: I'm a confirmed DC Comics man. While that means nothing to most of you, hopefully, let me explain: There are two major comics companies out there: DC Comics, whose stable of characters includes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, The...

Pros: The best comic book you'll ever read.
Cons: Good luck finding a copy.
The Bottom Line: Naturally, the best, probably most important, comic in the world is also one of the hardest to find. But believe me, it's worth the search.
Review: What if you could change the world? What if you could unite the planet in a common goal and put an end to war? What if you had to kill 3 million people to do it?
Let me start at the beginning, or as close to the beginning as I can. ... |

Alan Moore's Watchmen: The Story that Changed Comic Books Forever

Pros: It's literally the ultimate comic book series. 384 pages of genius.
Cons: Not the most uplifting tale.
The Bottom Line: If you have absolutely any interest in comic books as a genre, this is like...the comic book version of The Lord of the Rings (my version of ultimate praise).
Review: Travel back in time with me to 1985. Tricky Dick was still president--during his fifth term of office. The Soviets were on the verge of invading Afghanistan and Western Europe, held in check only by the world's one true superhero, the naked, ...

Pros: Moore's Writing, Language, Story, Sub-Stories, Gibbons' Illustration, Coloring, Tone, & Humor.
Cons: None, Though Not a Story For Young Audiences Under 13.
The Bottom Line: Watchmen is a Sprawling, Ambitious, & Entrancing Masterpiece from Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons.
Review: Throughout the history of comic books, the stories created by writers often excited its fans though many felt that comics weren't taken seriously. While writers would create lengthy series of comics to match a single story or plot line that would ...

The Greatest Superhero Story Ever Told

Pros: Fascinating plot, setting, and characters.
Cons: Ghoulish in parts, especially the "Tales of the Black Freighter" segments.
The Bottom Line:
This extraordinary graphic novel lives up to its reputation, but it is defintitely not for kids. Review: Once upon a time, superheroes were infallible. They always defeated the villain, always did the right thing, and everybody trusted them. Then, in the early 1960's, Stan Lee of Marvel Comics decided that he wanted to write about superheroes that he (and ...

Pros: Beautiful writing. Great characters. Amazing story that turns in every direction.
Cons: Would be cool to see a few more action scenes.
The Bottom Line: If you haven't read this, read it! If you have, read it again!
Review: I haven't read any comics for ages. Four days ago, I went to the store, and I saw a giant box set called Absolute Watchmen. The smiley face with the blood on it really caught my attention. The box claimed that it was one of the best comics ever. I ...

Pros: Brilliant Artwork, Story and Characters
Cons: No Sequel
The Bottom Line: I had no interest in graphic novels but this rocked my world.
Review: First Impressions
************** Ive never really been into comic books or graphic novels, whichever title you choose to give them - if you do indeed believe that the two are separate. Sure, when I was a kid, I enjoyed the occasional... |

Pros: Fantastic characters and story
Cons: ending a little far-fetched, but it IS a comic book, right?
The Bottom Line: If you like tails of morality and anti-heroes, this book is for you- even if you don't read comic books.
Review: I don't usually read comic books and graphic novels (with the exception of Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" books), but I have to say that found "Watchmen" to be absolutely riveting. I first heard about this book on a History Channel special about comics. It so ...

Who watches the Watchmen? |

|
Pros: Excellent portrayal of how heroes can change a world for good and ill
Cons: None
Review: This stunning volume encompasses the WATCHMEN comic book series as put forth by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. The mid-1980's saw a resurgence in comic books that concentrated on hard looks at characters, adult themes and intricate social settings....
