Still indispensable after all these years

by   daviddennis ,  Dec 19, 1999
Pros: Best writing around
Cons: I miss Louis R's free-spending ways
Review: The best thing about Wired is that it takes you where you've never been before. From attempts to get into space on a shoestring, to life extension and biotechnology, Wired has a unique, in-depth spin on the technology world I don't see anywhere...

Wired - Super Cool Mag

by   opie_fife ,  May 18, 2000
Pros: Great Articles
Cons: Who has my copy?
Review: This is my very favorite magazine. The day I receive my copy of Wired at work is always a good day. Seems I also have more bowel movements on that day too.

You can always count on wired to keep you up to date on the latest electronic fads...

I'm an Expert Too!!!

by   Limp-HotDog ,  Jun 26, 2000
Pros: Lots of interesting tech-related stories.
Cons: Technical terms/concepts may be difficult for anybody who is less then college educated.
Review: WIRED. What a great magazine. This magazine will interest most technology-enlightened Americans, and keep most busy for more than a few moments...just as long as they would rather read a magazine instead of sitting braindead in front of the T.V.

Not dead yet...

by   sportdeath ,  Jun 22, 2000
Pros: Upbeat, positive, geeky
Cons: If you're not a geek, you'll probably be lost here
Review: When Wired was bought by Conde Nast, I was expecting the worst. I was afraid that the new owners would water-down the content or try to put celebrities on the cover.

So far, they haven't meddled too much with the format. I've been...

wired on WIRED

by   mstasizlak ,  Jan 24, 2000
Pros: long, useful, interesting
Cons: too many advertisements
Review: There's nothing I like better than to sit down on my bed and read Wired from cover to cover. Wired is a revolutionary magazine that presents the integration of society, economics, technology, and their leaders. The magazine keeps you in the know about...

BIZZARE AMALGAM OF NEW YORKER, TECHIE PEOPLE AND PREDICTIONS

by   jdrum ,  Mar 27, 2001
Pros: Keeping up with new world. Technology's version of New Yorker.
Cons: Like the NYer, the articles get too long and sometimes they are just weird.
The Bottom Line: I recommend Wired for its wide ranging article topics in the tech field and the splashy graphics in and out of the ads.
Review: I have been waiting to say what I think of Wired. I have read and enjoyed it for three years. I find it informative about a wide range of topics related to technology, technology personalities, and a news of the weird type of theories, predictions and...

Don't try and pigeonhole Wired.

by   johnbee ,  Apr 1, 2000
Pros: Artistic, creative, groundbreaking, fascinating. Cheap too.
Cons: Tons of ads.
Review: I've been subscribing since 6.02 which makes me a fairly recent reader (a few years). I can tell that a lot of the "oldskool" readers don't like the direction the magazine is heading - whichever direction that is.

But the bottom...

Artistic and Full of Information

by   david.holmes ,  Oct 24, 1999
Pros: Good content and appearance
Cons: none
Review: Wired is my favorite technology magazine and the only one I've read that goes deeper than just discussing hardware and software that is currently on the shelves of your local, franchise computer store.

And deeper Wired does go. There are...
