Kings of the south

by   the-hype ,  Feb 15, 2005
Pros: value for money, a rocking album that rates as one of the recent best
Cons: none
Review: This 2003 debeut by the Fellowill boys is one of the best rocking albums that has been released in the past few years. The music draws simmilarities to the legendary Bob Dylan and Neil Young, yet it is a sound that is so individual in the music industry ...

Kings of Leon - back to the future?

by   cr01 ,  Aug 3, 2003
Pros: Some excellent tracks - vibrant and rocking!
Cons: Some rather indifferent and boring "pub-rock".
The Bottom Line: Worth buying for some standout tracks. Just a shame that parts of the album are a boring let down.
Review: If all the hype is to be believed, The Kings of Leon are the future of Rock. Well, ever o ...

Goin' Down South w/ the King of Leon & Some Cowbells

by   thevoid99 , top reviewer in Music at Epinions.com ,  Sep 24, 2003
Pros: An Excellent Debut from the Kings of Leon.
Cons: Repetitive in some spots & the Expected Comparisons to the Strokes.
The Bottom Line: "Youth & Young Manhood" is an excellent, rollicking debut album from the Kings of Leon.
Review: When the Strokes emerged in late 2001 with their debut album “Is This It”, the band brought a new sound of stripped-down, energetic rock music that would lay way for the garage-punk scene of 2002 with bands like the Mooney Suzuki, the White Stripe ...

Youth And Young Manhood: The Soundtrack To A Relaxing Train Ride...

by   andym173 , top reviewer in Music at Epinions.com ,  Oct 23, 2003
Pros: Yup
Cons: Not a great deal
The Bottom Line: -
Review: I was very rushed leaving the house this morning to head off to university, and I usually like to take a CD with me to listen to on the journey there and back. The first thing that came to my hand this morning just happened to be Kings Of Leon – Youth ...

Molly's Chambers Gonna Change Your Mind

by   andymack ,  Sep 30, 2003
Pros: Some quality tracks, good mix of Blues and Rock
Cons: Another band NME have decided to herald, which has been the downfall of many
The Bottom Line: A good album, equally as good as the White Stripes
Review: The White Stripes brought us bluesy music, The Datsuns created the family link in the band and now Kings of Leon have burst onto the scene with a fusion of both. The three brothers’ and one cousin from Tennessee decided to create a band and named it after ...

K.O.L. Debut review- Return of Southern rock!

by   thomasgarrard ,  Nov 27, 2003
Pros: Southern Rock. Drawling vocals. California Waiting.
Cons: Trani. A bit TOO cool.
The Bottom Line: This is a great album despite all the hype. It's got some great riffs, hooks and sheer rock sound.
Review: Kings Of Leon are the biggest thing to come out of Tenessee since Dolly Parton. Their infectious brand of blues-rock has got critics into their biggest mass worship since The Strokes. But are they any good? I'm one of the few people who didn't like The ...

All Hail The Kings - Of Leon

by   thekingofleon ,  Jul 22, 2003
Pros: Great bluesy-rock sound to some of the tracks.
Cons: Some tracks drag on a bit and are quite similar.
The Bottom Line: I would definately recommend this as an ideal purchase to anyone who likes The Strokes or anyone who just wants to hear a good old rock album. I love it!
Review: Youth And Young Manhood is the debut album from Tennessee rockers The Kings Of Leon. The band consis ...

Why is youth and young manhood so good?

by   r_chappelow ,  Nov 12, 2003
Pros: Some original songs which make the album worth listening.
Cons: Some songs are just average...............Shame
Review: The answer to this question is obvious. It is a great rock/indie album with some great songs such as "Red Morning Light" and "Molly Chambers". These two songs for me were the highlight of the album, all the songs are good but only a few stand out as i fan ...

Debut from the much "pushed" K.O.L. is deserving.

by   henrythehorse ,  Jan 20, 2004
Pros: The lyrics, arrangements, vocals and attitude.
Cons: Some repetition in certain numbers.
The Bottom Line: I would suggest this album if you are a fan of classic/alt. rock because it's a great driven album with a familiar yet unique style.
Review: Kings of Leon seemed to come out of nowhere with a lot of push for a freshman band; but let me profess that their supporters new a good thing when they heard it. King of Leon evokes many rock and roll bands, they harken to he garage band early style of ...

Bad facial hair and lame songs.

by   lockjawdavis ,  Oct 30, 2003
Pros: Ethan Johns produces...
Cons: Dimwits may begin to think mustaches are actually cool...
Review: These boys have been making quite a noise lately. Most notably, on the other side of the pond where horrible crap like The Darkness tops the charts. Unfortunately, The Kings of Leon offer nothing substantially new or engaging. Ethan Johns' production is s ...
