Pros: New Twist on the Old Fashioned Haunted House Story that will Involve You on an Emotional and Psychological Level
Cons: None
Review: Clive Barkers 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart was the first look that the world at large had into the terrifying and intriguing world of the Cenobites. However, the early imagery that would be an influence to both the book and the movie can be found...

Pros: Excellent horror story. Inspirational for a great film, "Hellraiser".
Cons: Was unfortunately responsible for the later Hellraiser movies as well.
The Bottom Line: I can imagine how anyone reading this would see that this would make a great movie.
Review: "The Hellbound Heart" is a great short story turned into a very good movie. This could almost be a short story stuck inside of Clive Barker's "Books of Blood", like "Cabal" was. The first "Hellraiser" movie was a very literal translation of this...

Pros: Creative, intense, gripping, horrifying, excellent story telling, and action packed
Cons: Too morbid for me, nearly X-rated content
The Bottom Line: This is an exceptionally well written, gripping, horrifying and morbid tale. However, it could be too disturbing to some.
Review: Frank is a pleasure seeker who takes what he wants without any consideration for others. He forces himself upon his brother Rory's beautiful wife Julia one week before their wedding; however, Julia does not resist him. Julia is an incredibly beautiful ...

Pros: Great imagery and imagination
Cons: Bloody and sexual...not for all tastes...
The Bottom Line: This is a great, short book. Barker is a master horror writer, and this early work proves it...
Review: It's like a twisted fairy tale...or a Grimm tale...
"The Hellbound Heart" from Clive Barker is a story about desire and links to which people will go to in order to achieve this desire. There once was a toymaker named Lemarchand who... |

Pros: Unique and twisted love story.
Cons: Was not long enough for my tastes.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this book, especially before viewing the movie, it provides much more insight even though there are slight changes in character.
Review: Would you go to the farthest lengths to achieve ultimate pleasure, even if it meant pleasure as you've never known it, even when it means pleasure will meet pain? Some are desperate when life no longer has a taste; then come the regrets. This is the...

Pros: Very well written, much better than the movie
Cons: Character relationships needed development
The Bottom Line: Fun, short read that is much better than the movie.
Review: I wasn't sure what to expect with a Clive Barker novella, to be honest I had seen movies with his name attached and had more often than not been let down. I picked this book up from a paperback swap site and was surprised at how short it was. Although ...

Pros: inspired the "Hellraiser" hit movie series+ basically tells the same great story
Cons: Pinhead is not the main killer like he is in the movies.
Review: Clive Barker's book "The Hellbound Heart" is what inspired the gruesome, freaky, unique, and quite original horror film "Hellraiser", which inspired the hit movie series with four films so far. The movie "Hellraiser" really...
